Discussion: Trump's SOTU Cabinet Isn't Going To Be Around For Long

Yes, many of the temporary appointees will not be around for the 2020 SOTU. In their place will be new temporary appointees replacing the cabinet members that will be hired and subsequently fired during the course of 2019. Curious if anybody will last less than Mooch and his 11 days on the job milestone.

There are going to be a lot of new butts in the chairs reserved for President Trump’s cabinet at the State of the Union Tuesday night — and for many, it will likely be a one-time seating assignment.

I wonder if he ran his business like this, with “temporary” employees in key positions. I guess multiple bankruptcies answers that question…

President Pelosi will be fielding new Cabinet members in April, should fix the problem.

Leave it to Trump to exploit any ambiguities or gray areas in the Constitution, when he’s not outright breaking it.

I’ve played games of Musical Chairs that have lasted longer than the tenure of some of his Cabinet officials.

I want to see low-angle shots of Bloatus with Nancy looming above him in the background. Could be a symbolic image.

“It’s easier to make moves when they’re acting,” he said in a Sunday CBS interview. “I like acting because I can move so quickly. It gives me more flexibility.”

To paraphrase Melania Trump: if criminals become convinced that the Senate will not confirm the appointment of their conspirators to the Cabinet, they will not abandon a Cabinet of criminals. They will reject Senate confirmation of the Cabinet.

Also: Trump uses these folks as the political equivalent of a kevlar vest. Even someone who is not crippled by malignant narcissism would probably avoid becoming too attached to disposable people like that.

Will Dumbo Don the Con be around in 2020, let alone be there to make the SOTU address? Let us all hope NOT!

Was it ever resolved if Matthew Whitaker is allowed to be acting attorney general since he was never confirmed to any cabinet position prior?

This is a gaping loophole. Why bother seeking a moderate candidate that can pass Senate muster when you can simply play temporary musical chairs with ideologically partisan candidates. Perhaps this is Trump’s point.

The real reason he likes temporaries is because they are all kissing up in order hopes of getting the job on a permanent basis. And we all know how he loves a suck-up.

It’s quite possible that Trump, his lackeys and spawn, and “cabinet” could mostly be in prison.

Forty percent of Senate-confirmed political positions may currently be vacant but the Federalist Society and McConnell have installed a boat load of Federal judges who will be doing a lot of damage well after Trump is gone.

Exactly.

And they will continue to install them as long as the House fails to do its job.

Impeachment Now!

The cabinet is not around long enough to run the 25th amendment mechanism. Smart move! Plus, with a Republican Senate that would never convict him if Trump was impeached, he’s set for at least a full term. I begin to understand why the “founding fathers” were so down on “faction.” All the Constitution’s checks and balances are irrelevant, if one of the political factions refuses to exercise its responsibilities.

Doubtless, uncertainty about who’s going to be in charge, or a lack of an appointee filling a decision making position, or leadership that’s always at the bottom of the learning curve has its effects. It’s kinda like taking away the certainty of regular paychecks from government employees. Besides effecting retainment, it also likely impacts the quality of the work which is going to be done. Or making longstanding international alliances problematic.
So, who, I’ve gotta ask myself, benefits from a US government that has lower effectiveness?
