WAPO article seems to say that Yates did not tell WH Counsel that the FBI thought that Flynn was “lying.” Though apparently she in fact discussed that Flynn was interviewed by the FBI, she did not stipulate to anything about Flynn “lying.” WAPO article seems to say that Dowd and WH Counsel agree to Yates version on most issues… where it pertains to Trump having foreknowledge of Flynn’s malfeasance…which, I don’t know…exonerates Trumpus Rex? I cannot keep up…will someone please explain the article. I read it 5 times now, and am still confused…thank-you.

Trump tweeted on Saturday that he had to fire Flynn earlier this year “because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI.”
[Trump’s lawyer] told the Washington Post and CNN that he drafted that Saturday tweet but said the tweet was poorly worded.
I really do believe Trump’s lawyer sent that Tweet.
I frequently “draft” 40-word “poorly worded” Tweets posing as someone else by using the pronoun “I” and have that person send those Tweets using their account on a Saturday.

He wanted the FBI to say there was no “there there”. Which, since they were actively investigating the matter, is implicitly asking them to shut down their investigations (or worse, to lie about then publicly).
But to go to the FBI at all, and say there is no “there there” is a pretty massive step in a cover up. Because as Chief of Staff and an integral part of the transition team, Priebus clearly had to know there was indeed a there there to be investigated. In some ways, that trip may be the biggest act of Obstruction of Justice we have seen.

Yeah that’s right, and thx for the link. I also seem to recall that Priebus (due to his disgaceful firing) seemed open to speaking with Special Counsel, Congressional committees, etc. If so, Mueller has been keeping that info on the DL.

You’re not alone. Basically, they appear to be trying to hang their hat on the fact that Yates didn’t use the actual word “lying”. Which is incredibly bizarre, since the WH story at the time was that they accepted Flynn’s resignation for lying…so they themselves believed he had lied. And whether or not Yates used the word “lying”, its quite clear from all sides, she certainly didn’t make a case that Flynn was telling the truth to everyone, and that he shouldn’t be let go! She was freaking sending up bright red flares that they need to get rid of Flynn pronto!
I think the reality is pretty clear though. Trump stupidly admitted to Obstruction of Justice, and he bent the arm of his lawyer to take the fall for it. So now they are busy trying to undo/obfuscate a very important aspect of an Obstruction of Justice case, and in so doing, are drawing even more attention to it. And they are doing it when the key witness and center of it all, is cooperating fully with the Mueller team.
Its Humpty Dumpty. All the kings men can’t put Humpty Trumpty back together again.

Continually de-funded education, continually de-legitimized news morphing into outright propaganda, MSM outlets being mostly owned by billionaires who benefit from republican rule so there’s no meaningful check on the spread of propaganda, the nature of human tribalism (which requires educating against), and a propensity in the religious right for magical thinking. The combination results in a substantial bloc of voters who don’t exist in the same reality. They need a dramatic re-education. I’m skeptical that such a thing is even possible. But if there’s one big move we could make to stop this from happening to further generations, it would be quadrupling our education budgets. At least that’s how I see it.

Its likely with Flynn and Manafort, he is already well above Priebus’ level. Or they don’t think Priebus would have anything worthwhile to get himself out of the Obstruction case against him, and will just snatch him up at a later date.
But if I were Priebus, I would be extremely worried about that specific trip to visit with the FBI. Like, the Bailey’s in the morning cereal ain’t gonna cut it anymore…it needs to be Everclear on a continuous IV drip, all day long, worried.

The sad part is, it isn’t pre-emptive ass covering for Pence. That would have been not saying a damn thing on twitter or to the press about Flynn’s plea at all.
