Absolutely. Think about it. Mueller has already gotten a plea deal from the former NSA, a campaign and WH adviser, and one of the campaign managers. Who, going up the food chain, is left? PP, Pence, Junior, Jared, Sessions, Lewandowski, and KAC. After that, I think the probe will move onto members of Congress. That’s one of the thousands of reasons why it’s going to be so imperative that Democrats take back both chambers of Congress. They’ll be in a position to rehire Mueller if he’s fired and protect his investigation from Republican interference once he begins looking into members of Congress more closely.
I think Mueller’s team is already nibbling on that. Which is why so many people like Nunes are getting very, very squirrelly.
But I also feel that Mueller really doesn’t want to go there, for many reasons. His ultimate audience is Congress, after all…;…they are the ones who will decide to impeach or not. Pissing them off doesn’t seem particularly prudent. He also seems a bit sensitive (or maybe its just my perception) to throwing too wide of a net. Going after members of Congress would most definitely leads to accusations of that (not to mention, such a probe would last years, and would become decidedly more partisan than even investigating the President). My guess is, if he has enough evidence of criminal activity by members of Congress, instead of going the Grand Jury route, he will just quietly refer it over to the FBI.
On DACA - Trump is using DACA recipients as hostages. I actually don’t think Dems will give in. If they hold their ground (meaning: Extend the program at a minimum and don’t deport, and no deals for being a decent human being and no reward for human shield blackmail) Trump would be in a real quandary and would shit his pants. He plays on Dems sense of humanity which he regards as being ‘soft’. But Trump has a better political antennae than most GOPers and knows that this policy is not popular. If Dems hold firm, they’ll get a better solution in 2019 when they take the House while DACA recipients remain in the country.
