Discussion: Trump's Article 5 Omission At NATO Reportedly Blindsided NatSec Officials

Just how much damage to this nation will our Congress tolerate before they take the necessary action to restore our our credibility with the world? The majority party is more obsessed with inflicting damage to a party that is not in power than in serving and protecting our national interests. They’ve been this way for quite some time now. Republicans have forgotten how to govern.

LOL…they’re THAT threatened by a “feminist” movie that’s doing well in the box office haha…they just have to try to undermine it somehow. Fucking pathetic.

Meanwhile, here’s their counter-narrative distraction propaganda in response to the SCOTUS upholding the rulings tossing NC’s districts as intentionally racist:

Because, you know, advertising messages of “it’s census time…so fill it out and submit it…it’s important because XYZ” are bigger cheating than racist gerrymandering.

“I think it’s extraordinary that there would be an expectation that the President would have to say explicitly that he supports Article 5. Of course he does,” McMaster told reporters after Trump’s speech.

I think it’s extraordinary that McMaster is apparently unaware of his boss’s propensity for lying his ass off, and that he’s surprised people don’t trust a word Trump utters. Or, in this case, doesn’t utter.

Lots. I was once talking to a guy whose business (in part) was hauling toxic waste, and he said that his trucks were always brightly polished stainless steel, immaculately kept, and sporting multiple flag decals, because that would make people think less about what was being carried inside.

The Article 5 omission wasn’t surprising if you realize it would give comfort to the Russians.

Judging by the budget he put forward… yep.

Too bad the US can’t claim bankruptcy to avoid its creditors.

He’s an entitled man-baby who’s famously ignorant, impulsive, and erratic. Surprises should not surprise.

We have Russian agents working in the White House and the Pugs are more concerned about who is conducting the census. Says a lot, doesn’t it?

Why do these people continue working for this man? It won’t help your future career prospects to have been associated with this massive train wreck. It can’t be rewarding personally to be treated like to dirt, to be sent out to lie for him and then have your lie exposed by a tweet. I suppose they tell themselves things would be worse if not for them. Maybe in the short term. But long-term, the best interests of the country are that this moron’s “Administration” collapse ASAP.

Yep, Party over country.

Same Republican B.S., different day.

Though the US’s involvement in NATO was an occasional minor/major issue in '16, one of the primary reasons for Trump doing a ‘Trump’, is this strange belief that the U.S. was being cheated by the treaty partners.

Bankrupt and in debt to the Russians?

For the Obama critics (reportedly Mattis n Kelly and def. Flynn) things were supposed to be different and the grownups were supposed to be in charge.

Trump is clearly unstable and unfit. The figures he gave during his air traffic control give-away are all pre-Trump. With the massive tourism declines this fool has caused we could run on Truman-era air control…

Except that the 2% of GDP is a target for 2024, so no one can say now that they have missed it. Nor can anyone separate out how much of US defense spending is to defend Europe vs the many other things the US does.

These men should stop being enablers of Trump and resign en masse. If they thought they could influence him to do the right thing, they have been clearly shown that he has an entirely different agenda than the well being of this country. I think unilateral actions in which he kept his advisors in the dark about his intentions – show that he is an active agent of Putin.

I think we all have hunch what is coming next. His tweets tell us. He is deliberately provoking a terrorist attack so he will have the excuse to start a war – a war in which we are isolated from our allies. He will preoccupy our attention, seize broad powers under a war time footing, and drain our resources so Putin can proceed with his agenda without our interference.

I know this may sound crazy and improbable – but look at what he is doing. Either he is irrational (which is possible) or he is acting in a very deliberate way to destabilize us.

Up to a point, Trump did and now the reported plan is to get accelerate the 2024 timetable.

I don’t agree with you there. Foreign tourism is a very small contributor to US air traffic, which is primarily domestic. There really are problems with the US air traffic control system… Trump has no clue how to fix them, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
