Discussion: Trump's 'America First' Security Strategy Pushes For Competing Nations

The strategy document also notes that “actors such as Russia are using information tools in an attempt to undermine the legitimacy of democracies.”

Just completely, totally, 100%, NOT in the 2016 elections. I’m insulted you even asked.

Also a bit OT, but the possibility of a Corker Kickback could help explain his change of heart - and vote - on the tax bill.

As usual, the Trumpeteers are leading from behind and slow on the uptake.

Other nations are moving past us because of the Trumpty travails and have joined in competition, if you like that term, to win economically in the global markets. Alas, the sloth that occupies our governing seat only cares to pretend that being left out was his strategy all along. DOH!

And pardon me if I’m taking this wrong but doesn’t saying that we must get around to leading and gaining economic independence infer that we aren’t either.

The Trounce doctrine recognizes things so it claims but in all of its actions it proves that it doesn’t care and in fact works against doing the right and or smart thing.

The Trumpies are Bizarro World. If they claim one thing you can be sure the truth is the dead opposite.

“It focuses on four main themes: protecting the homeland, promoting American prosperity, demonstrating peace through strength and advancing American influence in an ever-competitive world.
Trump’s doctrine holds that nation-states are in perpetual competition and that the U.S. must fight on all fronts to protect and defend its sovereignty from friend and foe alike.
[T]he national security strategy makes clear that the United States will stand up for itself even if that means acting unilaterally or alienating others on issues such as trade, climate change and immigration.”

Because, we can best advance American influence throughout the world, by becoming more isolationist, backing out of trade agreements and leaving a void for China to fill, breaking previously made international agreements, and being in a perpetual fight with other countries who don’t do what we say. Sounds like that’ll work just fine.

Last time, Sarah blamed Obama. I wonder whose fault it is this time?

And he also gave the speech in his phony “teleprompter” mode - soft voice, grandiose flourishes, and that weird breathing - it is SO phony, and so different than the real person you see at his rallies - that’s who Trump is - not the phony “Presidentia” pose he takes for events like today.

He’s been in office almost a year, gotten nothing done, bitches about previous Presidents doing nothing, talks about doing stuff he’d talked about in the campaign, but hasn’t done anything on and adds more crap to the list.

I cannot, just can’t, believe the POTUS gave this speech during a mass casualty event. It was almost as stupid as it was petty, but then everything associated with this administration is just that.

He can’t give a decent one with out something to read and his speech writers haven’t had time to write up something and have him test read it to make sure it’s not to complex for him.

Well, duh…look how well it worked when we created a massive void in Iraq for ISIS to fill. It stands to reason that we should do that in every way possible.

Besides, we won’t be isolationist. We’ll still meddle and tell everyone else what to do and use military intervention and corporate imperialist wars of convenience to make everyone obey us. It’s just that we’ll be doing it all by ourselves like a rogue nation and without the rest of the world at our backs supporting us OR…gasp…questioning our rightful whiteful whims.

I mean c’mon. The rest of the world has to lose for us to really win…

Yes yes, the old teleprompter.
I remember a long, long, pre-historic time ago when teleprompters were evil and controlled the person so weak as to use one. Meaning, within the last 8 years that is.
Using a teleprompter meant the usee was incapable of elucidation and deep thought said the same sons of bitches propping up their half brain dead leader regularly these days with a teleprompter.

Just say Trump first.

Breaking it all into categories, America is definitely headed to the bottom of the list first in many of them.
IN fact to many to list here.
