Discussion: Trump Won't Actually Be Speaking To Congregation At Black Church In Detroit

Why? What’s your point?

He has given dog-whistle laden speeches to all white crowds under the cover of “reaching out” to black people and the media has gone along with it because they are irresponsible enablers whose abandonment of their basic responsibility to inform the public is in no small part responsible for a short-tempered narcissistic blowhard being an election away from having his finger on the nuclear button.

Sentence of the Day.

Oh, yes, absolutely Donnie’s good at that.

What I actually was reacting to, though, was KellyAnne’s generalization to “Republican presidential nominees” rather than just Trump. Implicit in there is the acknowledgment that “Republican presidential nominees” don’t feel comfortable in “brown/black” environments ---- clearly not true for Cruz, Carson, Rubio, JEB, etc. – but still a reflection of the 2012 “autopsy” about the GOP’s poor standing with minorities. And they are still not asking the question “why” in any meaningful way…

Jackson, who said he has voted for Democrats his entire life, clarified that the visit was “not a Trump rally” but an “opportunity for a dialogue.”

Not for Trump it’s not. It’s a whistle stop photo-op. Black people scare him don’tcha know. As someone said above, he’ll sit for 20 minutes (maybe), drop a bill in the collection plate, take out his change, and shuffle off to the next photo-op.

I’d love to see those surreptitious cell phone videos showing Trump restlessly fidgeting and getting annoyed at having to waste his time doing something he hates. Then let it go viral.

This should be easy. We all know his attention span maxes out at 5 minutes unless he’s the center of attention getting applause and cheers.

MSM should be pushing the Bishop with exactly these questions. How much of his (the Bishop) independence did he give up? why the delay? Who controls content? Will Trump aids bein the room? Can there be any “independent” observers in the room? Etc.

Would be interesting to see how long it is before a bootleg unedited version becomes available.

I’m wondering if he’ll have special box seats away from the congregation or how many pews will be reserved for his entourage.

“Republican presidential nominees usually are not bold enough to go into communities of color and take the case to them and compete for all ears and compete for all votes,” campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said last week. “They’ve been afraid to do that."

So is tRump. He declined every invite from the NAACP, Urban League and Black and Hispanic Reporters. She’s right that Republicans are afraid to speak to minority communities, but is going to a church on Saturday bold? HELL NO IT ISN’T (sorry, John Boehner walked past as I was responding). Speaking at a church on Saturday, under heavy security is not bold, it’s tRump’s usual fake reality tv show bullshit.

trump’s associates and friends are not people of color. Except with the exception of some black celebrities and sports figures who he later forgets he knows. That’s part of his problem.

He told the Free Press he will ask Trump if he considers himself a Christian, and if he is a racist “because so many people think that’s what you are.”

That’s easy. The answer to both questions is “yes.”

“Republican presidential nominees usually are not bold enough to go into communities of color."

The Trump Outreach Tour will continue its bold move into communities of color when HO sits in a luxury suite at the Knicks-Cavaliers season opener.

Oh, no, you forgot Katrina Pierson, she may have a reputation, but she is not famous !

The Secret Service probably recommended that he keep his mouth shut while visiting the black church. They know that if he opens his mouth to speak, something inherently inappropriate and wildly racist will innocently roll off his lips. Then it would be every man for himself!

Absolutely spot on. And the black celebrities and sports figures are just useful, not friends as other people know it.

Except for Katrina and Omarosa and I do not want to know how they made it to the inner cabal…

I was wondering about this. Considering how his “security” detail has operated at some of the early rallies, this could lead to some really awkward situations. (Not even getting into how the Secret Service is planning for this one.)

Trump has promised one of the first things he’d do as President is eliminate all gun free zones. Churches, schools, government buildings, public parks, hospitals, mental wards (as Texas has already done), etc. Someone should ask him if he’d be comfortable in that church if everyone was packing. And if they can’t because he’s a Prez candidate why doesn’t he do as he suggested with Hillary’s Secret Service crew, have his disarm while in the church?

Kellyanne, you keep using that word courage. I do not think it means what you think it means.

In other news, I’ll be addressing a joint session of Congress. But there won’t be any Senators or Representatives present. And it won’t take place in Washington. But it will be taped. But it won’t be released for a week.

Stay tuned.
