Discussion: Trump Warns G-7 Countries On Trade: 'If They Retaliate, They're Making A Mistake'

President Donald Trump delivered a stern warning…advising trading partners not to retaliate against U.S. tariffs on the imports of steel and aluminum. “If they retaliate, they’re making a mistake,” Trump declared.

I’m fine with this becuz I always respond well when someone tells me they’re going to f*#k me, my family and friends over but I’d better not do anything about it.

Yah, I just roll over and show my belly, you’d do the same amIright?

Of course they’re going to retaliate. Because they have to stop Trump, for their own existential security. And they know that a trade war will damage his electoral prospects, big time. And the upside for the EU, at least, is that an economic attack by the USA will give the bloc a reason to unite, which they haven’t had for a long time.

Meanwhile NATO is as good as dead. Just want to mention that. Trump will OK any Russian expansionism, not that this seems imminent. All the countries bordering Russia need to be very vigilant: the Baltic states, Ukraine. Scandinavia is not safe either. Hence this very strange, disturbing development in Sweden:

Yep: in a war or conflict between Russia and Sweden, the USA will be on Russia’s side.

Footnote: the way it would work would be like this. Canada, France, Germany, etc, would be characterized by Trump as an extension of the Democratic party–as detestable liberals. That would fire up 40% of Americans, most of whom have no clue about any of these countries and wouldn’t know the Netherlands from Nicaragua. The only possible fly in the ointment is the UK, because the UK is actually on the map for Americans. But the UK is going through its own political crisis on Brexit, and that has weakened its resolve, powers, and standing.

It appears the guy who “graduated first in my class from Wharton” yet never made the Dean’s List even once doesn’t understand the most basic principles of economics.

I’m beginning to think this may have contributed somewhat to his endless list of failed businesses.

Macron, Trudeau Say They Weren’t Going to Tell Trump Where G-7 After Party Was

And if he keeps this up, the US will become the biggest business he’s ever tanked. He’s steering us maniacally directly towards the iceberg with all of us as hostages.

I think this G-7 summit, with Trump threatening to stop trade if sovereign trading partners don’t accept US domination and turn themselves into client economies, will have gotten the attention of ‘Congress’ (I hate that euphemism for ‘the GOP’, it would make my blood boil every time Obama used it). The Koch network will likewise be on red alert. What’s called for is some kind of European action that penetrates the opaque, insular American heartland and drives a palpable economic wedge between Trump and the normally mindless red hordes on which relies. After this summit, when Trump’s world-historical mental illness was on full, destructive display, there will be a lot of closed-doors discussions between European honchos to figure out exactly what to do.

A version of his stiffing the contractors or making them settle for pennies on the dollar. It’s not going to work with leaders of other countries who have their own economies and constituents to worry about, and have not inconsiderable powers of their own to make life difficult for Trump.

Motherfucker! It’s our party and we can have our own rules if we want them.

Goddamn!

IT only ;makes sense that if you are running from our party you identify as a member of our fucking party. Bernie is going insure that Trump keeps winning like this.

He seems to be working the word “Peace” into everything he says today. Obviously what’s foremost in his mind is getting That Big Prize. Shame he doesn’t understand that destroying everything you touch while saying it’s for P-E-A-C-E isn’t how it works.

I made these remarks earlier:

We in the US are in desperate times and NEED the help from our Allies to confront trump. Do not play to his narcissistic ego ala Macron ala Trudeau. We need a united front to not play his tit for tat tariffs dominance but to do something more drastic.

Like minded tariffs will just play to his need to keep upping the costs. Hit him harder from the get go and with some kind of acknowledgement that when and if the US can regain itself our Allies will be back to the relationship that has kept the peace.

I know that this approach will cost us, but this cost will be much less than where we are presently headed.
