The Don is smart. He knows a divorce is coming after he leaves office, so this is the best way to kick them all out and not pay child support.

That was my first thought as well. since it is clear that a President does NOT have the authority to unilaterally undo a Constitutional Amendment (neither does Congress, for that matter), and his own legal advisers would no doubt tell him that, he is just spouting nonsense in order to regain the attention of the American voters. This is designed to encourage his (few) followers to get to the polls

I know he can’t do this, it’s just election bullshit, but it’s funny when one considers all the Russian oligarch types brining their pregnant brides to trump’s properties in Miami and elsewhere to have their anchor babies.

If someone would just ask him that, it would be funny to watch him squirm.

I’m old enough to remember when we had a president who actually knew what the Constitution of the US says. But this one would be obvious to any compos mentis person capable of reading at 4th grade level. I guess that excludes you, Prez. Dummy.

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” Amendment XIV, Section 1.

“subject to the jurisdiction thereof” - this is a clause of limitation, and limits the class of persons for whom citizenship is to be granted.

Children of ambassadors and consular personnel born in the US are not awarded citizenship. American Indians were not considered citizens, even though they are born within the US, until 1924, in the Citizens act of 1924.

The original intent was NOT to give citizenship to anchor babies. And the SCOTUS review which will be the end-result of Trump’s action, hopefully will restore the correct state - citizens are born to person who are “subject to the jurisdiction thereof”. In point of fact, writings of the author of the Amendment SPECIFICALLY excluded anchor babies.

Of course, the vast industry of “birth tourism” would be inconvenienced by a corrected reading of the 14th, but that’s a good thing.

Remember all those conservatives who used to like to pretend that Obama thought he was a king who would just wipe his ass with the constitution? Good times.

The ‘very stable genius’ outdoes himself again.
If Jus soli was never a part of our law, ‘pumpkin head’ would not be a citizen.
And, based on the Constitution, he would not be eligible to become the president.
We would have had to go outside the USA to get a REAL president… maybe as far away as, say… Kenya.

Miller wanted to block Chinese student visas. In 2016, there were about 350,000 Chinese students in the US, Over 5,000 just at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Can you imagine what that would do to the tuition rates for the rest?
