Discussion: Trump Tweet: I’m Saving US Money By Staying At My Private Golf Club

Gators?

On his long weekends the Secret Service rents golf carts from him for $35,000 and they (we) pay $64,000 to use his elevators. He’s not just saving money, he’s making money and Chaffetz wants to go after Obama’s pension.

Speaking of saving money, I think it’s high time the costs associated with Trump’s special needs child in light of the massive cuts to Medicaid in these areas are discussed.

Alas, the Secret Service can shoot gators. Lightning can’t be stunned or killed by gunfire.

The consummate bullshitter…is there any preposterous nonsense he won’t try to sell or that his hopeless acolytes won’t embrace?

He’d save more by staying in DC. Or better yet, in a prison cell.

I’ll go with heart attacks by overweight golfers whose idea of “working out” is sitting around fifth homes with the nicest fitness room equipment and possibly masturbating just to get the heart rate elevated.

We really do need legislation, or perhaps an amendment, that prohibits presidents from profiting from leasing, letting, or selling their own property and services - particularly to the US government at least - while in office.

I don’t know how it should be worded precisely (I’m not a lawyer or legislator) but we need to make the office of President less attractive to grifters and rich mountebanks.

We already do at least with regard to foreigners who want to ingratiate themselves with the President (Emoluments Clause), just without the Congress to enforce it. And certainly this Congress will do nothing. Up to now, we have relied having sane Presidents who respected ethics and appearances of impropriety to inhibit wrongdoing (and discerning voters).

Lawrence O’Donnell nailed it last night when he said “They were celebrating after the first inning because they were up by one run.” Priceless.

No Little Donnie Trump, you are not saving us any money. You could stay at the White House, which you said you would be doing during the campaign or you could go to Camp David. Both of those options would save money. Going to one of your properties just allows you to charge us for accommodating all the camp followers who travel with you . You make money. You play golf and charge us for cart rental and you profit from the whole outrageous outing.

You Little Donnie Trump are a pathological basket case… You have no business being in the office you hold.

Or he could just stay in the White House for the weekend and save even more money.

Organizations focusing on civil rights and privacy issues are usually pretty good about not carpet-spamming their contributors. The EFF and ACLU were my post-inaugural “you’re going to need this” charities of choice.

Had unfavorable experiences much like the original poster’s when dealing with more politically oriented entites, like OFA. The reward for supporting them with a donation in any amount appears to be a constant drumbeat of further requests. I presume it works for them in the large scheme of things, but it sure doesn’t work for me. They need a tick-box that says “I will decide when to give again, meanwhile please don’t nag me”. I’d pay an extra $20 to enable that tick-box.

And when you ask them, “How much should we give?”
Ooh, they only answer More! more! more!

@carolson

This is a horrible idea. The campaign won’t be able to accept the money order without knowing who it is coming from, as all donations have to be accounted for to the FEC.

@nova suggestion is perhaps the best. Unfortunately not every campaign follows some of the generally accepted best practices for fund raising, and its basically up to the campaign to decide when and to who they want to send solicitations. Once you give money, you get tagged as a donor, and they will keep coming back to you. The general rule was only do it three times, but with the ease of email and the increasing dependence on small money donors, it becomes more of a “we need more money, push the button” and they send out the solicitations to everyone. About a gazillion times a day.

The Quist and Ossoff campaigns are seeing the GOP shipping in huge amounts of money against them right now (millions in each case in just the past week), and they are understandably worried that they will be money bombed into oblivion. I know that doesn’t help much, but that’s where they are both at.

Real reason: he is a coward and knows his feelings will be hurt if he stays in NYC and is exposed to all the protesters that hate his guts?

I think two trips to his country club in Florida cost 1 million dollar, plus at least 300,000 thousand dollars for the city the country club is in for security. Mr. Trump you could have gone to Camp David and not cost nothing to stay there. Also, his family living in the WH would save millions of dollars. Trump must really be senile.

Speaking of my home state I find these two nuggets interesting, wonder if the Guv will stop by and give the Donald a “WTFIGO”

From March 29th,2017

“Gov. Chris Christie, who’s been tapped by President Trump to lead a task force on opioid and substance abuse, said Wednesday that he’s ready to get to work.”

Staying in the White House would save the country money you dickwad.

Donald Trump took an oath to uphold the Constitution NOT TO ABOLISH the parts HE doesn’t like…such as ‘free speech’.

If he doesn’t like what is being said about him HE CAN QUIT…Or we’ll FIRE HIS BUTT, for not upholding the Constitution.

If he tries to change it…I’M CALLING FOR HIS REMOVAL FROM OFFICE IMMEDIATELHY. I’m tired of LIES and his threatening statements. As far as I’m concerned he is unfit and s/b FIRED.

If he doesn’t like his JOB he can QUIT.

Mr. Trump YOU ARE UNFIT TO BE PRESIDENT and you’re INCOMPETENT.
