Yesterday he played Monty Hall in ‘Let’s Make A DACA Deal’ through a showman lens of Sybil (how many personalities did she reportedly have?), and today it’s ‘Ripley’s Believe It, Or Not.’
It really is time to turn the channel from the Bozo the Clown presidency.
I really really hate reality TV in all its forms. This is beyond abnormal for the American Presidency. Someone needs to say something to that nutjob or quit enabling him. This is fucking delusional. Enough already. Just too damn weird.
No he is coming up with the inevitable rationalization for why he can support the Trump administration (while still remaining nominally “ant-Trump”).Moderate appearance notwithstanding he is as evil as the rest of the Republicans. These people really are out to destroy our democracy.
‘He then claimed that the anchors on the programs that aired his remarks sent the White House letters “saying that was one of the greatest meetings they’ve ever witnessed.”’ Let’s see 'em Don. I’ve got a hundred dollar bill that says they don’t exist. Perhaps some enterprising young investigative reporter could start calling the anchors in question and asking if they in fact sent such a letter and if they’d send over a copy of it. Trump has tried this exact same ruse before.
Then we have bigger problems than we thought if he’s that dissociative. Its one thing if he conducts this charade as a coping mechanism to deal with some form of anxiety. Its another thing if he really believes he’s in a reality show of some sort. Frankly, I wouldn’t rule a psychotic break being altogether possible at some point, especially with the kind of trouble he’s in or the overwhelming responsibilities he’s totally incapable of managing. There’s no way he hasn’t figured out he’s in way over his head with most of what his job represents and requires of him…unless he’s that detached from reality.
He then claimed that the anchors on the programs that aired his remarks sent the White House letters “saying that was one of the greatest meetings they’ve ever witnessed.”
At which point the reporters asked to see the letters…
It’s almost like Being There. Jersey Kosinski only got a couple of things wrong. His protagonist was just a TV watcher, not also a TV ‘star’. And he was a nice and well-meaning guy, not a crass vindictive sadistic malevolent narcissist. Other than that we are seeing the results of a Chauncey Gardner presidency.
My WAG is that his NPD won’t allow him to acknowledge to himself that he sucks at this (as he sucked at most of his other business endeavors). I get the feeling that he easily slips into fantasy and delusion to avoid dealing with his multitude of shortcomings.
The uglier his reality is (Fire and Fury, the Fusion testimony, his upcoming physical) the greater he clings to illusory tales of his absolute brilliance. He really believes his crazy in the moment. If he wasn’t so malevolent and destructive, he would be profoundly pitiful.
