He has what I call a thin reedy voice. (My spec is that he and Ivanka consider themselves Princes(s) of the City and everybody in NYC finds them repulsive.)
I wonder if McConnell could find a way to not convene the hearings.
If the Clinton process is any kind of example, the House has āmanagersā who bring the case against the president. They already have the witnesses and documentation of the high crimes and misdemeanors. The president has had his opportunity to have his case made in front of the Select Committee examining the evidence, and an attorney to argue his side. Clintonās attorney, IIRC, made the case that what he had done did not rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors, but I doubt Dumpās could do anything more than tap dance and juggle until the flight to Azerbaijan is fueled up.
That is the modern day Republican party, in a nutshell. There are cracks in the GOP support of Trump and that alone should cause us joy.
Traitorous weasel
The process has started. Subpoenas for witnesses who can testify about his misdeeds are going out. The Mueller Report, regardless of Barrās obstruction, has been released and has given plenty of handholds to grasp the magnitude of his high crimes and misdemeanors. I join probably 90% of the people here who want to see him hauled into the dock tomorrow, but this death by a thousand cuts is driving him to flail around as the process grinds its way slowly, as it should.
The fact that they are putting āthe Prince of the Cityā out there shows how terrified they all are. He comes off as a light weight and he is the best they have.
If it walks like a duck and talks like a duckā¦he is so light-weight he practically floats.
McConnell wonāt schedule a trial, so itās a moot point.
From the Senate Rules Sitting on Impeachment Trials:
āUpon such articles [of Impeachment] being presented to the Senate, the Senate shall, at 1 oāclock afternoon of the day (Sunday excepted) following such presentation, or sooner if ordered by the Senate, proceed to the consideration of such articles and shall continue in session from day to day Sundays excepted) after the trial shall commence (unless otherwise ordered by the Senate) until final judgment shall be rendered,ā
But weāre talking about McConnell, who is not bound by rules.
There is no wiggle room for Mitch in that quote from the Constitution.
Unfortunately, those who bankroll him āFall In Line For His Reelection Fight.ā
At a certain point all the money in the world wonāt save him. Once those who are funding him realize heās a lost cause, their contributions to him will dry up faster than fish heads in the Kalahari.
More like a rat willing to gnaw another hole in the bottom of the ship before abandoning it completely.
Iāve never really cared much for this level of realism in paintings.
How do you know we lost the 2004 election because of that particular factor?
I mean, other than Matt Taibbi, possibly, who thinks this was the actual cause? And what was the publicās feeling on the War at the time? I would say we lost the 2004 elections because a draft dodger incumbent was able to Swift Boat a Vietnam War Hero, given FOX News,Right Wing Talk Radio and the gullibility of Republican Base and just enough non Republican voters. And we also maybe lost because John Edwards is a douchebag and it became crystal clear during the campaign what a magnitude of douchebag he was. And maybe we lost because we were at war in Afghanistan, and people were gonna support W. And besides Katrina hadnāt happened yet so there was still this belief that the Republicans were good at doing things and running the economy and National Defense. And even if they sucked at all those mythical things, IOKIYAR was becoming recognized as a law of Physics.
You do realize you have just forced me to go out and buy a blueberry pie. Which is probably the least readable- through- a -thin- slice- kind of pie. Should have bought Key Lime or something lighter.
For reading through Iād try pumpkin. You can go pretty thin. Try the supermarket kind, not homemade.
Quite frankly, Iām sick and tired of listening to Republicans, especially when theyāre lecturing us about what we ought to do.
Shut the hell up, and release the full report.
On the one hand, he got his J. D. at Harvard.
But on the other hand he teaches at the Antonin Scalia Law School (George Mason University), informal HQ of the Federalist Society.
Hold that thought!
