Discussion: Trump To Skip WH Correspondents' Dinner Because Of ‘Dishonest’ Press

“Every single group of media available to mankind” Donald? Really? So every single media outlet that exists on the planet asked you to come?

I call bullshit on that.

It was funny! And fun to watch all the other guests laughing in your face…Priceless!!

I don’t know, I think a guy who’s carried on like him for nearly 70 years must have some instinct for self-preservation. Here’s an image from 2011, where he’s clearly having so much fun he’s about to have a stroke. Since then he must know, on some level, that he’s given everyone a hundred billion metric fucktons of new material. He’d be hanging out there like the world’s biggest, fattest, disgustingest, ugliest piñata. The suggestion he had a good time in 2011 is maybe his biggest howler evah, but the actual not going is probably wise.

You can’t much blame him. He’s a frickin’ pinata. When he doesn’t control the terms, he has no chance. The President destroyed him last time, and this time it won’t just be the Pres., it will be everyone who steps up to the mic.

His excuse is ridiculous, and no doubt he should be called out for being such a pathetic whiner while pretending to be superman, but you really can’t blame him for not going.

I can see why he thinks the press is dishonest, I mean if they took the time to invite him just because they didn’t want him to show up. It seems to have worked. Angry Donald can’t stand to be the victim of reverse psychology. It always aggravates his Tourette’s and we can’t have that in the middle of running for president, for Pete’s sake.

He can run, but he can’t hide. Obama’s gonna have some grade A zingers.

I expect we’ll see a staged “protest” in the crowd with Obama delivering the “Get him outta here” coupe de gras.

An article in the NY Times attributed Trump’s need to gain stature in politics, in part, to the total pantsing President Obama gave him at the 2011 #nerdprom.

Donald J. Trump arrived at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in April 2011, reveling in the moment as he mingled with the political luminaries who gathered at the Washington Hilton. He made his way to his seat beside his host, Lally Weymouth, the journalist and socialite daughter of Katharine Graham, longtime publisher of The Washington Post.

A short while later, the humiliation started.

So… thanks, Obama.

Like everyone else, I really don’t think anyone is going to pull any punches, whether or not Trump decides to attend (and I think he will - his ego demands feeding.) President Obama, having no more fscks to give, will happily use him as the target of punch line after punch line.

His doctor said he is too thin skinned to attend.

I’ve heard/read several pundits say the same thing. He was so utterly humiliated, so stricken by the room of bigwigs laughing at him, and the worst part if it all wasn’t that the president made fun of him to his face or that he basically called him a joke, it’s that while the president was ordering the hit on OBL while he was doing it. That made the comments about Meatloaf and Lil John even more painful for Trump. While he’s tooting his own horn and thinking he’s some kind of superpower because he has a reality TV show in which fading B & C list celebrities compete for attention and relevance, the president is accomplishing things of actual worldwide importance. Trump couldn’t have possibly have looked smaller.

This entire campaign is Trump’s desperate attempt to win back his own pride and dignity that Obama snatched from him in front of the whole world. To him, just being able to look the president in the eye on Inauguration Day and say, “Look at me now” is everything. His only way of erasing that painful humiliation, of forcing the people in that room who laughed at him to respect him, is to reach the same level as Obama where he thinks he’ll be able to make them stop laughing. His thought process is really not all that far removed from Kim Jong Un’s.

I believe Trump deserves a big hand for his sportsmanship and grace under pressure while being publicly roasted by the President.

I’ve seen that video more than once and at first Trump looked so pleased in a “see how important I am! the president is singling me out!” kind of way but, as it continued, he started rocking back and forth in his chair with a grimace on his face as people kept laughing and looking at him. I will admit that even I felt a bit embarrassed for him at the time but it was nothing compared to his incessant birtherism.

Karma really is rough on the thin skinned!

The difference being, if he was in the room and laughing, people could be laughing with him. In his absence, they are clearly laughing at him!

Awww, poor middle Donnie is going to take his ball and go home. I’m sure this will make all those who do attend much, much happier. Who needs a Vulgar Talking Yam* in attendance?
