I care more whether he’s part of a huge international conspiracy that’s actively subverting our government. It’s a different order of problem.
Did he only recuse himself from his role as chair with regards to the investigation? What a slimeball.
Yeah, but that’s anyone in the Republican Party. You gotta draw some distinctions somewhere.
Instead of Christie we get one of his toadies.
A man of unimpeachable credentials…
Trump’s man Nunes is on the case mucking up the house investigation every step of the way.
Totally agree on that. This whole “DC Adventure” hasn’t worked out for Javanka the way they thought it would (well, aside from the grift). They’re already planning on opening up Motel 6 style Rump branded hotels cause many wealthy people want nothing to do with the brand or the people behind it.
Anyone here besides me find it odd that the law firm of King & Spaulding has several ties to Trump?
- The ethics adviser to Trump’s revocable trust is a K&S partner
- Dan Coats is a K&S alum.
- A high-ranking official at Commerce also came from K&S.
I’ll take, “How many times did Wray promise not to investigate Trump?” for $400.
So you think Trump is nominating Wray so Putin will have a direct line to information on the Russia investigations?
What person with any integrity would want to be a part of the Trump administration. Obviously, many people are steering clear, and Wray’s willingness to be nominated already is a huge strike against him.
Just the sort of person we don’t need running the FBI. I also wonder how chummy he is with Giuliani and certain FBI agents in NYC. And now we learn about a Rosneft connection?!
This is going the wrong Wray. (Our motto: Never let the easy ones go by.)
Did Trump ask him for an oath of loyalty? Maybe a nudge, nudge, wink, wink…
It seems obvious that anyone willing to attach his name to the Trump administration cannot be a good choice for such a critical position.
I will be writing to my Senators in opposition to this selection if it goes forward.
Wray better know a good lawyer. He’ll surely end up needing one.
Did this guy agree to be a stooge for Trump?
Did he sign a loyalty oath to Trump instead of the U.S. ???
Why would anyone in his right mind take this job?
Did Sessions resign yet?
What is this guy’s “issues” that he would agree to this?
Certainly can’t trust anyone who agrees to take this job.
OK, this isn’t going to be popular, but I know Chris Wray. He’s a good lawyer, very well-respected in the firm and with clients and other lawyers. He’s not known for being particularly political. He heads the white-collar crime group at the firm, but also works on other matters. He is a litigator, not a lobbyist. I’m not saying he’s going to be the second coming of Eliot Ness, but he’s not a tool or a fool.
Oh, and on Bridgegate, Chris and K&S represented Christie only peripherally, in case criminal charges were brought. Neither he nor the firm were responsible for the ridiculous 'investigation" that the Christie administration released to try to absolve Christie. That was Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, and their ass of a partner, Randy Mastro. And yeah, I know him too, from being co-counsel on a case with him. And if If he was nominated, I would not be happy.
Mr. Wray had better be squeaky clean, because one of the realities of this post is that you immediately become a high value target of the world’s Intelligence Agencies.
Anyone remember Bernard Kerik? He was safe as a mostly local player, but as soon as he hit the big stage it was over.
“On December 3, 2004, Kerik was nominated by President Bush to succeed Tom Ridge as United States Secretary of Homeland Security. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales vetted Kerik during that nomination period. But on December 10, after a week of press scrutiny, Kerik withdrew acceptance of the nomination. Kerik became the target of a New York State grand jury investigation by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, and later, the United States Attorney’s Office.”
There are definitely some relationships that are worrying, but thanks for your insight. It’s so hard to trust anyone connected to Trump, however.
Well, he’s gonna get eaten alive by FBI agents. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a leak about his browser history
