I donāt understand why every Democratic lawmaker/official and every pundit doesnāt knock this one out of the park, repeatedly.
Trump considers these payments as ābailoutsā. They are only ābailoutsā IF we end the ObamaCare requirement that X % of premiums be spent on actual health care (and the remainder be refunded to customers) and IF we eliminate the requirement that specific ābasic medical necessitiesā be covered. Thatās the ONLY way these payments could remotely be considered ābailoutsā. Of course, Republicans have argued in the past for ending both those provisions.
So why donāt Democrats beat them over the head with this stuff?

Speaker Straus basically said Fuck you and used his power to adjourn the House on the ālast day.ā Straus did it at 1 minute past midnight. All bills not voted on for final passage died. Patrick had no choice but to adjourn the Senate. Greggie is fit to be tied.

Actually, he did it to avoid another embarrassment being shoved on him by, not just Congress, but a GOP Congress. They were going to pass legislation removing his control of the funds, and give it directly to Congress instead, and they were going to move on fairly quickly, with broad bipartisan support.

His bigger fearā¦being humiliated by Congress passing a veto proof piece of legislation taking this power away from him. So he is instead trying to sidestep the entire issue.
Congress is ready to put the healthcare debate in the rear view mirror (and by Congress, I mean the GOP in Congress). By threatening this, chances are pretty good that with his short attention span, Trump will forget all about it soon too.
