I disagree with you there. I think we have some very strong candidates running. Graham, Gillum and Levine all have solid track records.
Its the republican side that is sucking wind as far as candidates go. Putnam has had the field to himself for a year, and still nobody wants him. The fact that DeSantis is creating a stir is just another example of that. For the record, DeSantis’ name has been poppinig up for this race quite a bit over the last year. It was also popping up to replace Bondi, but he quickly backed away from that when it was rumored that Matt Gaetz was looking at that seat (its confirmed now, he isn’t). Which is kind of a pattern with this guy. Remember, he was the front runner last year for Rubio’s seat, until Rubio stepped back in the race, then he quickly withdrew. He definitely wants out of his House seat, however, and right now, the governor’s race is the most likely place for him to go.
Run for office- the 2018 elections are less than a year away! And if Trump and Louie Gohmert can get elected what’s to stop a qualified candidate?
Become a Precinct Committee Officer, sometimes it’s a Ward officer. You’ll meet with neighborhood Dems and get out the vote. Find good citizens willing to run for office.
Register people to vote. If you need to help people overcome the GOP-led Voter run-around help them do that.
Run for School Board. Make sure Civics is being properly taught. Think a majority of America knows how government works? Just 26% of eligible voters in America voted for Trump and half of eligible voters stayed home last November. Today’s 12-year olds will be voting for President in 8 years.
Run for Mayor, City Council, County Commissioner, Borough Assembly.
Get appointed to your Planning Commission. Know everything going on in your community.
Run for State Legislature or Congress. The next census is in 2020, just over 2 years from now, when we redraw Congressional Districts.
And get rid of GERRYMANDERING! Safe GOP seats gave us such intellectual giants as Louie Gohmert and Steve King. In most cases it’s the state Legislature that draws Congressional boundaries. Make it FAIR, OPEN and HONEST! We can do this!
Overturn Citizens United. Money is NOT speech and Corporations are NOT people- at least not until Texas executes one, and overturn any voter ID laws that are clearly an attempt to disenfranchise the poor and people of color.
NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER.

Case in point, the US Senate DENIED T rump’s nomination of Sam Brownback to be this nation’s UN Ambassador of Religious Freedom. Kansas’ Lt. Governor announced that he is excited to assume his duties as Governor. These Republicans have no clue.
He won both of his elections by the thinnest of margins…roughly 65K votes. The GOP is facing a massive wave this year, including in FL.
Given the lack of analytic skills you express with “I sure as hell don’t see no Puerto Ricans”, I am not putting too much weight on your analysis of the Democratic field, either.
You didn’t note that DeSantis introduced a measure that would have halted funding for Bob Mueller’s probe. But I’m sure that had nothing to do with the fucking moron’s endorsement.
Good summary. I think given the state of the Republicans, DeSantis is likely to get the nomination. I don’t think Putnam has done much to raise his apparent lead and if Trump is supporting DeSantis, I’m not even sure Putnam wants to stage a primary, not that I know what Putnam is going to do. At this point, I think Graham has the lead for the Dem nomination. Gillum might have had a chance, but the FBI examination is probably too much for him to overcome. Levine is the mayor of Miami Beach. Even Democrats won’t nominate him, let alone his chances of winning the general election. If Graham can mount a strong campaign, she is likely to defeat DeSantis who is inextricably tied to Trump and to the campaign to end the Mueller investigation. Obamacare is popular in Florida. 1.7 million people just signed up for it. Trump is tied by his own words on tape to killing Obamacare. People don’t want the Mueller investigation ended prematurely. I don’t think this will end well for the Republicans.
Hey! That’s sarcasm! That’s totally unfair, because in general the GOP, though they claim from time to time to be engaging in that, don’t actually have any ability to recognize that, or to decode it.
Well, trump is 0-2,3,or 4. Lost count
Might as well keep the historical never before seen presidential backing screw up going from the greatest predictor of
bigly. lol Believe Me!!!
That’s probably true, but the Puerto Ricans who have relocated to the mainland probably won’t be returning to PR any time soon. Why would they? There’s nothing for them to return to. PR is pretty much a wasteland at the moment, and it seems that it will continue being that way for quite awhile. It didn’t have to be that way - the hurricane response could have been an opportunity to rebuild and improve the island. Instead, the island is languishing in increasingly dire circumstances.
Frankly, I wouldn’t blame those who remain in PR for voting for independence, seeing as how being a US territory doesn’t seem to be doing them much good. The American response to Puerto Rico’s plight is shameful. We have absolutely no business preaching to any other nation about humanitarian issues; doing so right now would be the height of hypocrisy.
