Used to be called necklace on the necks of people deemed to be traitors/collaborators with Apatheid South Africa .

Paging @daveyjones64 —what’s the story on these races? Give us some good news.

It will be bad in WA state too. We do not have income tax so property and sales tax are high. It will hurt many people.

Also, just found this -James Comey speaks.

"Steele compiled the document for Fusion GPS, a firm hired by Hillary Clinton’s campaign to do opposition research on Trump. "

Why does everyone like Politico always forget to mention that initially it was Washington Free Beacon who commissioned the oppo research on Trump?

Sigh.

Death knell for this guy.

And with all the folks leaving PR coming into the State with 45’s lack of intervention, this will not help DeSantis’ case one iota.

'DeSantis and Rep. Matt Gaetz '…whew…these are a couple of rabid Trumpsters. They are not FOR America…they are loudmouth ‘it’s all about me’ jerkwads who don’t care WHO they screw over as long as their face is on TV.

Is there a frontrunner for the Democratic nomination?

Hey, it’s only 29 electoral votes. Until the 2020 census.

But all accounts, at least 200,000 displaced Puerto Ricans have already relocated to FL with the estimate being upwards of 750,000 when it’s all done. Tramp “won” FL by less than 113,000 votes (oh and Stein + Johnson rec’d neary 275,000 votes)

Not looking good, 'pubs. Not looking good at all. :smiling_imp:

Not really. The latest poll showed more people couldn’t name a Democratic candidate, than showed support for anyone. The “order” right now is Gwen Graham, Andrew Gillum, Chris King…with Philip Levine just really getting started.

Levine has far more money than any of the others, so I expect him to move up very rapidly.

King is a political novice, and doesn’t have much in the way of name recognition.

Gillum, IMO, probably has the most depth of any of them, but its dead last in fund raising and has a cloud looming over him concerning an ongoing FBI investigation into corruption in Tallahassee while he was mayor.

Graham has name recognition and is doing well in fund raising. But she is getting a lot of push back from South Florida, and there is a lot of skepticism about her being too conservative, based on her history in Congress.

There are rumors that there will be a 5th candidate declaring in January as well, a State Attorney from Miami Dade, but I don’t know much about her.

And of course, John Morgan keeps trolling the campaign with a “will he or won’t he, or will he run as a independent” pose. Currently, its looking like he won’t run…but he is a tough read. Most polling shows him leading ALL candidates on both sides of the aisle, but that is probably name recognition more than anything.

What this story is leaving out, is on the republican side, Latavla just resigned from office, ahead of an impending expulsion by his own party in the Senate. He was considered one of the big GOP candidates for governor, and his resignation will no doubt has played into DeSantis’s decision making. DeSantis is becoming sort of a perinatal runner for higher office. He was the guy who was leading for Rubio’s seat before Rubio stepped back in. And his name has been floating around for AG and Governor for about a year now. Putnam is probably leading their pack right now, but his stock seems to have fallen greatly in the past year…back in January he was presented as Scott’s heir and the golden boy. Now…not so much, as they keep looking around for others. (there are actually several others declared, but they are all relative no names so far…with Cocoran, the current FL speaker of the House being a very large exception. But he hasn’t formally declared yet).

Remember that the tax bill screws Puerto Rico. It’s getting kicked and run over after being draw and quartered and then told its their fault.
Here, have some paper towels.
Lovely guy his trump fella

Someone, and by “someone,” I of course mean the various Democratic Party organs, has to make sure they get registered first.

(My advice for avoiding the barriers is to fake a Cuban accent.)

We are, and will continue to do so…we’ve been registering voters at a pretty brisk pace (at least in my neck of the woods, and from what I hear, its pretty consistent across the state) all year, with even more of it next year.

But there are a few things people need to consider regarding Puerto Ricans moving to Florida. First, even if the total number reaches or tops the 750,000 estimates I have seen…its still less than 1% of the voting population. Of course, Florida statewide elections are extremely close races…and 750K is more than enough to shift one. Finally, though this doesn’t apply for statewide races, but it comes up when people start considering Congressional races (like DeSantis’ seat), is they are not dispersing across that state evenly. Some areas (Orlando, Miami) will see a lot of, some areas (like mine) will see almost none.

Don’t be too sure. I know this guy and he’s one smooth operator. He’ll harp on his “Seal Team 6” experience in Iraq, although he was just an attorney giving them legal advice. He’s a bag of wind but he knows which way to blow it. And the Democrats haven’t fielded anybody that could beat Donald Duck as of yet.

In my experience, there’s nothing SF types love more than people who lie about being SF.

If there are 750 K Puerto Rican’s newly arrived in Florida I sure as hell don’t see them. In a state the re-elected Rick Scott, all the odds go to the GOP. The current Democratic slate is a bunch of “who?”'s and that ain’t too great.
