Courage, Bravery, Determination to act in support of this country - even when strength may be sapped, enthusiasm may be in a lull … will need to be on display in full force on Tuesday … every single American with a faith in the fundamentals of the concept of democracy must summon every ounce of will - and get to the polls - in the name of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, - and the 5 living Presidents - pull the lever for a continued future of freedom. The Trump prescription for the country is essentially euthanasia for democracy.

Weeks after he announced, a couple of months at most, the first articles came out cautiously warning that even professionals, normally loath to say such things in public, could see he was obviously mentally ill. Textbook, one said, so clear an example that he used clips of Trump for presentations rather than bothering to hire actors. And on and on it went. Instance after instance of his violating social norms in a way any clinician would take notice of. The Khans. Alicia Machado. Bragging about sexual assault. And yet here we are.

That’s exactly what I noticed at first. These are predominately elderly men who don’t even want women in adjunct positions in the military, much less as CinC. They would n’t care what Rump says so long as he’s White and is a man. (Sort of.)

I believe that Trump is extremely unhappy. I suspect that he has not had a moment of true joy in his whole life. His father abused him psychologically and he has never recovered.

(1) because Trump is selling the hope for personal prosperity & fulfillment of social aspiration -albeit with the lower probilities than a lottery ticket
(2) because Trump works his base up into a frothy delirious state with his tantalizing bigot porn - saying all the naughty bigoted things that these people feel and want to hear - Trump taps into his followers “hate vein” and then tells them that they are right - he validates their dark and ugly feelings - legitimizes them and tells them that they are justified in their hatred
