Discussion: Trump Tells Black Churchgoers He Wants To ‘Listen’ As Protesters Gather Outside

So-- how does this play with his racist base, who are pissed because colored people are getting their benefits?
Or are they taking it as the ‘wink-wink’ dog-whistle?

did someone explain to Cheeto Donnie that ‘wanting’ to do something and being capable of doing it are two different things?

" ~facepalm!~ OK…Mr. Trump, let’s give it one more try, and this time try to sound like you actually like or know something about black people. OK people…take your places. Take 128!"

BTW: That “Bishop Jackson” with whom The Donald visited has some ‘very intersting’ practices…Here he performs the time honored “Laying On Mens’ Butts” (or"Dryhumping for the Lord???"___ “Assplay for Jesus ???”) ritual. Wonder if he used this on Donald in their private meeting???
I’ve heard of the laughable ‘laying on of hands’…but (pun intended) this takes the cake.

Dafuck??? ___Damned if that isn’t the weirdest thing I’ve seen in a proverbial ‘house of worship’! lmao :joy:

Compare the number of hate filled rants to this current “softer tone”. The “hate” outnumbers the “soft” a lot. Just listen to how trump spoke on Wednesday when he spoke about immigration. I have a strong feeling this man would jail people without a trial and just based on a feeling he has convict them of a crime they “might” do because of their race.
Trump in his career has never done anything with the black community except to hire workers and then stiff them for their earned pay. Now he wants us to believe that he gives a shit.

After the meeting at the African American church Trump returned to his personal pastor, Pastor Gassss’, for a session of spiritual cleansing:

President Obama doing one of the things he does so well with the people he loves most. Thanks for the pic.

Trumpence were both against the auto bailout in Detroit. There’s no unremembering it.

“You could have let it go bankrupt, frankly, and rebuilt itself, and a lot of people felt it should happen,” Donald Trump said last summer, adding that, without government assistance, the industry would be in the same situation. His running mate, Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, opposed government intervention and continued to hold that position afterward. “It still would have been better if G.M. had gone through an orderly reorganization bankruptcy without taxpayer support,” he said in 2010.

“Laying on of body” when laying on of hands just isn’t enough.

We’ve done that at a few Gay Episcopalian brunches. (But only after 3 hours of Bottomless Mimosas).

I think if there were a thousand non-WASP ethnic groups and he went through this mockery of an outreach exercise for each one, his racist base would still know where his true feelings lay. And so would everyone else.

He received a standing ovation when he said that bishop Wayne T. Jackson, with whom he recorded an interview before the service, was a better interviewer “than the people who do that professionally.”

And he is a worse interviewee than most who do it professionally. Stay classy, you turd. He is so clearly unfit to hold public office, yet the rubes continue to support him. I am 100% behind Secretary Clinton, but I am sickened daily by the lies, innuendo and attacks made on her and her husband. I hope she beats her opponent like a rented mule.

“He walks among you in many forms.” ____ For instance, I know he was that little lady with blue hair I had to deal with at the DMV last May. (I hope she sees this.)

You know us Episcopalians - anything goes, and goes especially well with martinis and cigarettes.

Trump, who has dismissed Black Lives Matter and told black Americans that they should vote for him because they live in crime-addled, poor communities, took a softer tone in his church appearance, calling for a “civil rights agenda for our time” and promising that “tomorrow will be better.”

… i’m confused… is he being wishy-washy, flippy-floppy or touchy-feely…?..

… and who does he think he’s fooling…?..

[Trump] said that bishop Wayne T. Jackson, with whom he recorded an interview before the service, was a better interviewer “than the people who do that professionally.”

Small wonder he might have thought that:

A leaked script obtained by the New York Times showed that Trump staffers had drafted answers to Jackson’s questions, which they had received ahead of the interview.

Kinda makes you wonder if they fed Jackson the questions, too.

and when he meets with the Southern Baptists, I"m sure he’ll give the same, hearfelt and compassionate speech coming from the core of his deeply held beliefs.
