“How can he be so out of touch and asked to lead this country?”
Because he’s bat-shit crazy, Joe.
That Donald Trump is a menace to anything decent in this country is patently obvious.
Obvious, that is, to everyone but the tens of millions of our fellow citizens who believe it would be a good thing to have him in the Oval Office. They’re the ones I fear, now, and on November 8, and for years to come.
Trump’s PVDTSD (Post Venereal Disease Traumatic Stress Disorder) was acting up…
This comes on top of his denigration of Senator McCain’s service for being captured and verbal abusing Gold Star families, shows he has no understanding or appreciation of the military.
Coming from a guy who received several deferments and never served, it’s especially galling. While he was trying to avoid syphillis in his “personal Vietnam”, others were actually dying in the real Vietnam.
when will we get film of Mr I have a plan to fix everything, take a page from Gen Patton, and visit a VA Hospital and slap a PTSD patient back to sanity?
when he does it I hope the patient has a PTSD service dog with him…
I watched his remarks. He WAS trying to be sensitive—as much as that is possible for him. In fact, he can’t be sensitive to anyone because of his life experience, extreme wealth and bad genes:)
Not all veterans groups and veterans were bothered by the GOP nominee’s take on who can handle the stress of war, though.
Retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn released a statement in Trump’s defense on Monday, blaming the media for taking the GOP nominee’s remarks “out of context in order to deceive voters and veterans.”
As quoted in an ABC News report, Flynn said that Trump’s comments were “highlighting the challenges veterans face when returning home after serving their country.”
I guess the fact that Flynn is a Trump Campaign operative might have been squeezed in there somehow.
“My G-d. Shame on Trump for attacking the bravest who return suffering from PTSD. This from a man who dodged the draft & shunned any public service…Our military deserves better than this chickenhawk fraud.”
In all fairness to Mr. Trump, he does carry the pain of multiple gunshot wounds.
Self-inflicted, and through the foot, but painful nonetheless.
There are few people who have lived in my lifetime that I can actually say deserve nothing but scorn and hate. Trump is one of them.
took his comments out of context…really like you didn’t build that>>?? give me a break if Clinton or Obama had said anything even close to this the right would be screaming and have steam coming out their ears calling Clinton or Obama a disgrace to say that about our servicemen and women
It is stunning that Trump is prideful in his ignorance.
Further evidence that the San Diego Union-Tribune Editorial Board was spot-on when they made their endorsement and stated:
Vengeful, dishonest and impulsive, Trump is no Romney. This is why Hillary Clinton is the safest candidate for voters to choose in a complex world.
Terrible leaders can knock nations off course. Venezuela is falling apart because of the obstinance and delusions of Hugo Chávez and his successor. Argentina is finally coming out of the chaos created by Cristina Kirchner and several of her predecessors.
Trump could be our Chávez, our Kirchner. We cannot take that risk.
Their concluding statement -
This paper has not endorsed a Democrat for president in its 148-year history. But we endorse Clinton. She’s the safe choice for the U.S. and for the world, for Democrats and Republicans alike.
The only thing missing from this traditional Republican paper’s statement
- “Do not vote for Trump - he is a madman”
Trump, a chickenhawk…strike that…a chickenshit’ coward who “felt like he served in Vietnam” because he went to a private military school as a child, disparaged vets who actually served and were damaged by war.
Well color me shocked!
It has forever astounded me that so many folk, in and out of the military, who served continue, almost reflexively, to support the Republican Party in the face of all evidence that the GOP views them as Kleenex: Use them and then throw them away. Oh, but first, pat them on the back and say, “Thank you for your service. See my flag lapel pin?” __ And as soon as the vet walks away, the GOP pol, more often than not by his actions, metaphorically yells, “Fuck You!” to the vet.
That’s it though, isn’t it? That can sum up a good percentage of his followers as well. I know so many Trump supporters that are well educated professional people, and that like Trump because they seem him as “tough” and is against abortion. When confronted by the literal mountain of other evidence that should be considered, they hotly change the subject. They like their safe secure ignorance and the comforting unassailable rightness of their beliefs.
The obvious sign of emotional disturbance is the fact that the man thinks it’s normal to wear orange spackle on his face. But nobody brought that up. Nor did anyone mention that he lusts after his daughter. In public. Again and again.
“You know who’s one of the great beauties of the world, according to everybody? And I helped create her. Ivanka. My daughter Ivanka. She’s 6 feet tall, she’s got the best body. She made a lot money as a model — a tremendous amount.”
“Ivanka is a great, great beauty. Every guy in the country wants to go out with my daughter. But she’s got a boyfriend.”
"I don’t think Ivanka would do that [Playboy] inside the magazine. Although she does have a very nice figure. I’ve said that if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I would be dating her.
“Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father …” — Trump said this in a 2015 interview with Paul Solataroff for the September issue of Rolling Stone.
@steviedee111 “I don’t believe those studies.”
“If you don’t like the news go out and make some of your own.” h/t Old radio guy named Wes Nisker.
NPR interviewed 4 voters in Arizona. A successful realtor supported Trump largely because she thought he’d prevent Muslims entering the country and perpetrating mass killings. The interviewer pointed out most mass killings in the U.S. over the last several years were committed by white males. He said there were various studies supporting his assertion. What was her reaction? “I don’t believe those studies.”
As quoted in an ABC News report, Flynn said that Trump’s comments were “highlighting the challenges veterans face when returning home after serving their country.”
“While at the same time making it clear that he has no idea what they are”, he added.
