Discussion: Trump Suggests His 'Tapes' Threat Influenced Comey's Testimony

Reminds me, and may a bit off topic, but couldn’t his telling others to say no collusion be called suborning perjury? Just askin’.

Serious question for legal types – does this kind of behavior actually make it harder to use trump’s words against him? I mean, if I was suspected of a crime and I said, “I’m guilty,” it’d be used against me, right? But if I said “I’m guilty” in addition to saying a bunch of other absolutely insane, nonsensical blather, the court would be left concluding that nothing I say makes a bit of sense, including the “I’m guilty” statement.

Bless you. I will mosey on over to Wapo and read it. Although it is a lovely day in the Pacific NW and I should be out weeding or doing some other outdoor adventure.

No, depending on who is the trier of fact in that instance, the judge or a jury, the prosecution would straighten out the bullshit and give it to the trier of fact to determine what was and what wasn’t true.

It’s not like all criminals don’t throw mountains of bullshit at everyone - they all do without fail.

And you can definitely use their words against them. Most of them incriminate themselves in some way, too. Trump has done a lot of winning since he’s the most prone criminal to incriminate himself I’ve ever encountered.

I’m no lawyer, but that is exactly what the result of Trump’s insane, incoherent babble does; he’s so friggin’ nuts that no one knows where lucid ends and crazy starts. Even Lyin’ Ryan gives the Orange Fecal Bolus a pass because “he’s new at this”.

That wasn’t a real reason - that was his excuse. It’s not that hard to figure all this out.

Before Caesar offered up this word salad, he said this, equally tossed.

Well, I didn’t tape him. You never know what’s happening when you see that the Obama administration, and perhaps longer than that, was doing all of unmasking and surveillance and you read all about it. And I’ve been reading about it for the last couple of months about the seriousness of the — and horrible situation with surveillance all over the place. And you’ve been hearing the word unmasking, a word you probably never heard before. So you never know what’s out there.

He’s almost single handedly responsible for winning the GA race as well.

Yes, and FOX Pravda says how clever he is for it.

Nice day here too, it’s that period of warmth and sunshine between the morning and evening fog. Reading this will be an adventure of an entirely different kind.

@tena I was thinking of my sweet Zoe who I know had more cognitive ability than PP. Her eyes weren’t dead either.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

And it’s about as far from nice here as it’s possible to get. We don’t have air, we have a hot, wet flannel blanket and the heat index is going to be around 106.

It’s Calcutta before the monsoons

“Lordy, I hope there are tapes.”

Yep. Comey obviously felt threatened by Trump.

From the way he began, it sounded as if he had to catch himself from saying that it WAS stupid. Which of course it was -stupid. But he babbled on as only he does and blaming Obama.

Wasn’t Comey under oath? Who would change their testimony to a lie if they thought it was possible perjury could proven through tapes? This shit does t even make sense. Trump things he’s come up with a good explanation, but as always it doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense.

You can’t make this up, and yet the ignorant follow with stars in their eyes.

How ironic that such a totally immoral person should claim to be James Comey’s moral compass.

Sequence: Comey says he has memos, gives them to a friend to release. DT tweets: You’d better hope there are no tapes.

Before Congress, Comey testifies to the content of the memos, written long before DT’s tweet.

So, apart from admitting that he is trying to intimidate a witness, how could what he says be the least bit true?
