Discussion: Trump: Some Republicans 'Happy' We Lost The Alabama Senate Seat

Probably happy because they got to rub it in Bannon’s face that his alt-right bullshit is failing

Terry Gross is interviewing voters from Alabama? Doesn’t sound like her niche. I’m dubious.

“I will say, we have to get more senators and more congressmen that are Republicans elected in ’18. And then you’ll see a lot more of what we’re doing right now,” he said.
Which is what exactly as you haven’t gotten one major piece of legislation enacted, the Gorsuch SC nomination was pure McConnell (not that I’m complaining, I want to see his proposals fail)

So principled Republican isn’t a complete oxymoron?

She used up all her pointed, gotcha questions on Hillary. One of their worst interviewers. Give me Tom ashbrook any day.

Congressman, not a voter and it sounded like Gross but not sure as I only caught middle of conversation.

“We wish we would have gotten the seat. A lot of Republicans feel differently. They’re very happy with the way it turned out,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “But I would have — as the leader of the party, I would have liked to have had the seat. I want to endorse the people that are running.”

I believe that is the thinking that led the Republican party to swallow that minuscule speck of pride, dignity, and ethics they had left to endorse Trump. Twelve months later they, hopefully, found it was too much to swallow, and decided not to do it again.

No, that guy lost last night…

Precisely. The wrong lesson is learned, once again, by the President.

No Republican is glad to have lost the Senate seat… but a number of them are glad that Roy Moore didn’t win it.

The nuance of that difference is lost on Trump.

Yeah, I gave up on NPR Politics after last year’s election. I couldn’t stand the false equivalencies.

Being anti-Moore is not synonymous with being pro-Jones but understanding the difference requires some level of thought and analysis beyond the simplistic black and white Manichean world inhabited by DT and the vast majority of GOP voters.

It was probably NPR Morning Edition, then it would be Rachel Martin or Debbie Elliot. And I believe they would do that.

I wouldn’t go that far. It’s just that a few of them still have a preservation instinct for the party as a whole and recognize that there’s an iceberg dead ahead of their current trajectory. When the survivors are left fighting over the life boats, they hope someone will remember their warnings and accept them as leader in the post-GOP world.

Baboso the clown, they are happy to not have a serial molester in their mist.

Happy is the man who believes his own bullshit.

Another mindless DT comment. Apparently Alabama perverts aren’t as popular as dummy thought.
“We” = 0 to 3
“A lot of people” = 0 to 4

That’s probably more like it. Sigh.
