GOP Sens. Bob Corker of Tennessee and John McCain and Jeff Flake of
Arizona worry that the package will add to the nationâs mounting debt.
There is a very simple solution to that problem: vote ânoâ
Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford said he and other Republicans are working on âjust-in-case optionsâ to add to the measure during Senate floor debate this week. He appears to be talking about a mechanism that could automatically force tax rates back up if revenues fall short.
As much as this sounds reasonable and prudent it means itâs DOA. There never seems to be a back up plan with these folks.
With just a few changes, some mathematicalâŚ
A clear signal that theyâre going to try (even more) cooking the books⌠âWeâll just raise our estimates of GDP growth to 7% and voila! no more deficit!â
Where to start with this steaming pile of manure!
âmathematicalâ changes, as kumquat said, weâll cook the books more.
âthe middle class and job producers can get even more in actual dollars and savingsâ â Trickle down theory has been PROVEN a failure in practice both by the Reagan admin and the Kansas âexperimentâ
âbackup plan add-onsâ - If they ainât in the bill, theyâll be voted down as amendments
Take another swipe at the ACAâŚ
These Republicans will NOT be satisfied until ALL the money in the country is in the hands of the 1% and all the rest of us are just so much chattel.
They know the revenues will fall short. Thatâs key to the plan for gutting Social Security and Medicare. â'Weâve got to cut spending ! Our deficit is rising because of all these Democrat entitlement programs !â
I wish I could have invested my SS contributions in mutual funds, so these robbers couldnât get at them. But I know they need to pay their makersâŚ
This is exactly what is going on and they donât care. Opposition to any parts of this bill are ginned up in order to show their âconcernâ for unwashed masses. Republicans do not care. I hold out only a glimmer of hope that this thing hits the trash heap but it is fading.
What competing demands, AP? The competing demands of just bleeding the poor and the elderly in favor of the super-rich versus actually opening arteries?
What competing demands? They all want to rip us off to pay off the moneybag.
