Discussion: Trump Says SEAL Killed In Yemen 'Broke A Record' After Standing Ovation

NO! As the Commander-in-Chief, YOU have the full authority, Donnie. If you had told the generals to stop, they would have stopped. Your lack of curiosity about what was going on, coupled with your staggering incompetence, lead to this disaster, and is so very, very, sad.

The responsibility is yours.

MAGA my ass.

@georgehā€“ā€œOne of the most disgusting and callous moments I have ever seen in Congress.ā€

True dat. But they are just getting warmed up.

There’s the 99% of me that totally and rationally processes who this person is and what it means, but there’s still the 1% that channels Charlie Brown on the pitcher’s mound:

ā€œI can’t stand it! I just can’t stand it!ā€

Van Jones. VAN JONES, just said Trump became President at this moment. Jones saw something very different than I did. I saw Trump exploiting the woman who he helped make a widow for his own purposes. Did i miss something?

As the Orange Horror said about McCain, I don’t like soldiers who get caught. What about soldiers who get killed? This mission was an attempt to outshine Obama’s capture of Osama bin Laden. It was rushed, enormously stupid and he couldn’t even be bothered to spend time with ā€œhis generalsā€ in going over the wisdom of pursuing the raid at that time. Couldn’t be bothered to go to the situation room and monitor the mission. He needlessly put personnel in extreme danger and achieved nothing of value from the mission. This effort, in front of Congress and gallery spectators to make the whole damn thing look heroic was disgusting in the extreme. I feel sorry for the bereaved wife but wonder why she would want to be part of this dog and pony show. The glorification of the military by the right wing is truly disturbing and we are obviously going to see that ramped up to the extreme in this administration by a man who avoided military service with the flimsiest of excuses. Honor, morality, etc. is being flushed down the drain by this mountebank.

I’m just bitter tonight. Feeling raw. To say that SEAL knows anything denies reality and to me it’s trump stealing that family’s feelings for his own ego and it pisses me off. Maybe the father of the SEAL should’ve met DT face to face so he could personally ream him a new one. I’ve been angry all day since i heard trump tried to pass off responsibility for that raid in Yemen when he had the power to order them to stand down. Trump tried to blame ā€œthe generalsā€, Obama, anyone but himself and that really got me hot under the collar.
The boos and hissing tonight during the speech was anemic to me.

I don’t think you missed a thing. I think Van Jones is off his rocker if he thinks what Trump said was Presidential. That entire ovation line is just fucking bizarre and devoid of real emotion imo. Its shows his downright callousness. Like the dead give a shit about breaking an applause record…I don’t get it. I don’t see how that’s particularly comforting to the man’s widow either. I’m sure she feels supported by the applause in the chamber, but to say its record-breaking…that’s just a weird comment.

[/quote]Hey, convenient, transient, disappearing bone spurs - the most awful, painful of all. Not there before the chance of military service, never there after. Show some respect for the (temporarily, but not really) disabled.

Exactly - with ā€œifā€ being the operative word.

I have several at 6th and 7th cervical vertebrae along with some nerve compression…

They haven’t seemed to have caused any problems since then …have they —

This seems very ill-advised after the father of William Owens told Trump not to hide behind his son’s death and called for an investigation into it. I can just imagine the fevered exchanges between Trump and Bannon over this one: ā€œThe dad is against us but I think we’ve got the widow!ā€

So basically Trump is proposing to unite the country by playing grieving family members against one another. Klassy as always.

Well, with the Orange Horror every damn thing has to be the best, the biggest, the highest, etc. if he is anywhere involved. You can bet he was sucking up all that applause as being, in some sick way, for him and his glorifying a disastrous, failed mission. Only 5 weeks in to his corrupt administration. I’m wondering how I will get through another week of it much less several years (gods forbid!!). I’m sure he has soaked up enough ego-swelling applause tonight to keep him going a few days without another injection of crowd adoration. Probably back to Mar-al-Lago this weekend for another campaign fundraiser or something to boost his overblown ego.

Gotta steal that

The Republican’s jumped up and down to applaud so much they looked like a fucking Jack-In-The-Box. I’m sure he’ll be saying it was the most standing ovations ever,

The most appropriate would be for his limo to blow a head gasket on the way to Andrews AFB. Or for Marine One to lose a rotor blade.

Expect Trump to install a proper clap-o-meter for next year’s State of the Union address. All the best game shows have them after all!
