Discussion: Trump Retweets Praise, Doesn't Care That Username Is WhiteGenocide

I absolutely believe Trump wants to be president. The guy gets off on POWER and this (in his eyes) would be the ultimate way of achieving it. He’s definitely in this to win it. And he could - I think there are enough angry and scared White people (and possibly other minorities) out there that saw Barack Obama be elected and are fearful they are losing “their” America. They see Trump as being strong against the “others” and a means to restore what their view of the country has been and should always be. Contrary to what has been said, racism was alive and well before Obama was elected - many people just hid it. When they saw what their pretending (that it did not exist) did, they will make sure it won’t happen again. Trump speaks to them because he’s one of them

My hope is enough people in this country reject this attitude. As seen with Trumps steady high in the polls, my fear is they won’t and he could actually be elected president

Like you, I am baffled by GOP “humour”. I am also dismayed at how any mention of Republicans lowers every debate we can have about any topic.

Logic
Common Sense
Decency
Thoughtfulness

Compassion
Sense of Humour

Repub voters are bereft of all of the above, but, as Alan Simpson told a very funny Bill Maher (who has a keen sense of humour), “However silly they seem to you, Bill, these are the voters. They are out there and they vote.”

In some venues in the off-year election of 2014, people aged 72 outvoted EVERYONE aged 18-26. For some cohorts in Presidential years that Democrats depend on (like Latinos), there is underperformance.

Over on another thread I was mortified to read about the wound suffered by a woman because of a drunk bastard with a gun in a movie…knowing that whatever “outrage” felt by those who would vote OUT pro-gun legislators just is not enough to overcome GOTP pro-gun voters.

I moved to California a few months after he became governor and have lived here since. At some point while he was governor my consciousness was raised to a level it had not been at before, and I started tuning in to politics.

I agree. Whatever motivation he may have had when he started the adoration of the crowds has completely intoxicated him. For someone who continually insists that everything he says is right BECAUSE he gets tons if emails telling him he is, shows how susceptible he is to flattery regardless of WHO it comes from. If enough people say it, that’s proof that he is right.

Having a “leader” with such an unreasonable grasp of reality would be the end. And he would do ANYTHING for a complement from Putin. (If I can figure that out, I’m sure Putin already has – after all he convinced that genius of self-awareness, Dubya, that he was worthy of trust just by letting him gaze into his eyes!)

Regarding Latinos and underperformance, I think we Democrats are going to have our hearts broken because of our assumption that Latinos line up with us and will of course vote for Democrats, and as you’ll see in this essay, it’s not so. In addition, in this year when there is the threat of deportations on a large scale being carried by the Obama administration there is the further risk of alienating those who could be our natural allies.

I always thought that genocide was identified by the victims, rather than the perpetrators. Perhaps I’m mistaken.

He’s claiming that whites are the victims of genocide. Serious meds are called for here.

I remember Shirley Chisholm having the decency of paying him a visit in the hospital. I think a few folks were surprised at the graciousness toward him.

He’s going to drop the “N” word on us before this is all over. Some stray set of neurons in his walnut-sized brain will start signaling “Nr, Nr, Nr . . . " in response to some perceived slight, and before the tiny collection of neurons that control his mouth have a chance to, you know, “think” about it, said mouth will open, the lips will curl into that charming sneer that Americans so love, and out it will pop: "Nr!” Following which, his poll numbers will go ballistic.
