Discussion: Trump Rationalizes Wall Because of Syrian Families At Border, But They Weren't Sneaking In

Discussion for article #243020

Ever notice that whenever tRump is at an outdoor event, where the wind might blow and expose his ridiculous comb over, he wears a hat?!

Ever notice that whenever he gets a chance, Trump makes really stupid claims of credit for things he had absolutely nothing to do with?

Eight Syrians were just caught on the southern border trying to get into the U.S. ISIS maybe? I told you so. WE NEED A BIG & BEAUTIFUL WALL!

The tone of this makes me think he is trolling everyone, including his know-nothing supporters.

It’s like a self-aware, deliberately over-the-top caricature of something Trump would say.

Were they smuggling in suitcases of Falafels?

Canada is accepting thousands of Syrian refugees. Time to build a wall between Canada and the USA. What do you say, Trump? Your hysteria disqualifies you from the presidency.

Trump is an inflammatory fraud and unfit to be President. Period.

Trump is an idiot. I just saw a news report on this. Authorities have confirmed its just two harmless families traveling. There is another group of five male Syrian’s that are most likely college students. Did I say Trump is an idiot.

Does the word “caught” mean something different than it used to mean? I mean, if a fish jumps into my boat, did I catch it?

Only if your boat is surrounded by a big & beautiful wall.

But is this not how the system is supposed to work ?

They declared themselves as seeking refugee status like other (non-Syrian) refugees and were immediately detained to see if they have a valid claim or not, like other refugees ?

These GOP fools keep causing confusion and hysteria just for their own political benefit. I wish a sizable part of the electorate was smart enough to recognize this but they are so oblivious to common sense.

Syrian students? Throw them out. And what a pity that the families of Steve Jobs, Paul Anka, F. Murray Abraham, Paula Abdul, Mona Simpson, Jerry Seinfeld, Mitch Daniels, and other Syrian-Americans were not deported, because the country would be so much safer. There are about 150,000 Syrian-Americans in the country, and although not one of them has committed a terrorist act and most of them are more highly educated and economically productive that the average American, it’s probably best that we deport all of them.

But Drump is the unfit, inflammatory fraud that many of us devoutly wish to become the GOP nominee, instead of Rubio, correct?

It’s not common sense much of our electorate lack; they lack unfiltered, complete information. How many will ever know that the Syrian familys under discussion turned themselves in voluntarily? Which national and local media outlets have already aired or published that information so that the “common” American can use their “sense” to validate or reject what Drump-on-a-stump trumpets fortissimo da coda? If challenged on this, which national media outlets will unequivocally correct the story ( no “alleges” or “balancing opinion” from “both sides” [of what? - the “controversy”? the “facts”?]

For what it’s worth, I also believe that media distortion of reality, by omitting pertinent information and converting what should be yes/no/unsure statements of fact into “issues” demanding “balanced opinion”, promotes a cynical, blasé disregard of thoughtful voting - or of voting period!
