All throughout the campaign and everyday since, we’ve been inundated by PP’s supporters saying some version of, “He calls it like he sees it.” He does. That’s an absolute fact. The problem isn’t in what he’s calling out, it’s in the way he sees it. So, the problem, as he sees it, isn’t in his behavior, or the crazy coming out of his mouth and fingertips, it’s the reporting on it.
That’s why I sincerely hope Mueller takes the necessary time to nail him dead to rights. It can’t be a circumstantial case. The evidence has to be overwhelming. Even then there will undoubtedly be 20-30 who remain either doubtful or vigorously in denial. But if it’s below 25%, perhaps we can get back to being a country in which 3/4 can agree on the basic facts.

Well today is the anniversary of the Access Hollywood Tape, Hurricane Matthew, the announcement from DHS and NSA about Russians interfering with our elections, and the big dump of DNC/Podesta’s emails. So lots of things to distract us from remembering.

I’ve honestly never believed PP is attempting to distract. He’s just not that smart. This is his usual Saturday and Sunday ritual. Wake up, binge watch political shows he’s got saved on his DVR and then have a Twitter meltdown. It’s just what he does on the weekends.

There’s just no evidence that he’s unusually smart or that he’s being diabolically clever or any of this stuff people think. If he’s any of that then so is every young child who got bored and cranky, melted down into a tantrum and ruined the day for everyone. The right-wing noise machine infantilized a large section of the electorate, which then went out and elected the most immature, angry, impulse-driven public figure we’ve seen in our lifetimes. There’s no smartness anywhere in any of it.
