Discussion: Trump Picks Steven Mnuchin To Lead Treasury, Wilbur Ross To Lead Commerce

That swamp was so drained all they had left were the actual remnants of the swamp.

Nice to see Trump chosing some real outsiders, instead of some New York Elitist you-know-what types !

Joe Sixpack rejoices over all this winning !

Trump also selected Chicago Cubs co-owner Todd Rickets to be deputy secretary of Commerce.

Please don’t kill me, but its Ricketts, not Rickets.

However…seeing how the Cubs caused all of this. /s

and Mnuchin’s actual worth is still being debated.

"Most importantly, he is one of the greatest negotiators I have ever met, and that comes from me, the author of The Art of the Deal. Together, we will take on the special interests and stand up for American jobs,” Trump said in a statement. “Wilbur knows that cutting taxes for working families, reducing burdensome government regulations and unleashing America’s energy resources will strengthen our economy at a time when our country needs to see significant growth. I am proud to nominate him as Secretary of Commerce.”

So far as I’ve read, Trump’s proposed tax cuts are a bonanza for creeps like this Goldman troll, and will do sh*t for “working families.” The GOP long con continues, and its idiot base will continue to cheer them on while their pockets get picked.

Probably because he counter sued Trump…and won.

I guess that makes Steve, Tom and Elaine the representatives from the Working Class, right ?

Still don’t care.

I want the apathetic and the folks that voted 3p to catch a clue. Those are the people that the Democrats need to get after.

Cool…the actual billionaires that brought us to our knees in 2008 are now going to be ruining, er RUNNING the country…guess they’ll try and finish the job.

What is the thing/issue that the Dems are supposed to “get after” the f’ing 40% of morons who chose to sit the election out? HRC was supposedly tainted with Goldman Sachs speeches. Seems that those speeches didn’t do her any good but did a whole world of good for GS. Whatever she supposedly “promised” Wall Street they actually got.

How do you get people to catch a clue when they’re actively working to dodge it?

I imagine he gets away with this. None of these guys are “champions of industry” or manufacturing. They are billionaire financial sector guys. When they write the final chapter of the book America it will be about the Financial Sector. It will be about guys like these and Trump himself.

It’s really amazing. The reason our manufacturing sector hasn’t kept up wit the rest of the world’s is guys like Mr. Goldman Sachs above bought it and liquidated it ( Romney big on this ) then sold the pieces to foreign lands. They finalized our economy and now we are told they’re going to bring it all ( industry ) back. That’s like putting a tobacco mogul in charge of cancer research.

The talk of the day is conflict of interest. Mnuchin is deeply invested in a world that’s in conflict with the one Trump says he’s going to create. But like I said…I’ll bet he gets away with it.

Took a while, but welcome to ‘Flashback’.

Does anyone remember Trump’s ‘king of debt’ comments?

This story has Mnuchin’s response to that.

step 1: remind them about Mnuchin having to explain away the Trump comments.

step 2: Attempt to remind the 40% that the mire that was supposed to go away didn’t. Also remind em, that all candidates aren’t the same and then ask em, if they are cool with more crocodiles being in DC.

After that…we wait.

Agreed completely. By now, a plan is already in place to essentially liquidate the Treasury. At some point, President Pence will get on tv and tell the public that the Treasury coffers are empty and there’s no way that the government can afford to provide a safety net for its citizens. Sorry guys, that’s a thing of the past. From now on, there are no government programs. Except for the military and please, don’t hesitate to enlist.

Because your country needs you.

@inversion: I just don’t see either of those things as having much of an effect. The 40% that sat this presidential election out and treated it like a midterm didn’t seem to see any differences in D or R. After 2 years of dismantling the country, I don’t think they’re gonna see the Dems as an alternative because the best we can do at this point is block bad behavior. That’s not the best selling point. I’m not saying it shouldn’t be tried. This country is going down; we might as well try anything. Hell, why not.

Yup. It only took 8 years to make Goldman Sachs on your resume a plus.

Mnuchin already is saying there won’t be any tax cuts for the rich. Despite Trump’s plan clearly laying out there will be. A tax plan Mnuchin not only has read, but freaking help write.

So that part of the plan seems to have already failed.
