No question that the Asshole-elect is an asshole, but the real question is whether or not Jeff “the Keebler elf” Sessions has the balls to say, “Fuck you, Donnie, I resign!” Sad.
This guy just keeps writing his own Articles of Impeachment. Too bad the GOP doesn’t have the integrity to take Trump up on them.
Trump is going to fire Sessions over prosecuting leaks…just like he fired Comey for mishandling the Clinton email investigation.
Meanwhile, I’m trying to imagine how the “If only Sessions had told me he would recuse himself.” conversation would have gone down.
Trump: Hey Jeff, I got a hypothetical for you. If a House or Senate panel ever investigated if “Russian intelligence activities” helped the campaign what would you do?
Sessions: Gee Donald, I don’t know. Why do you ask? Does it have anything to do with those two times I met with Kislyak?
Trump: No, no, no. Just asking. But if someone ever tried to investigate me you would stop it, right?
Sessions: Well golly Donald, if I said yes and later found you did something, it would sort of be like conspiracy to obstruct justice.
Trump: Perfect. I’m so glad you’re on board.
No, the Fuck you, Donnie! would be to not resign. Getting Sessions to quit is the whole point of this ongoing assault on his personal dignity.
Actually the exercise on the part of the Asshole elect is to see if Sessions can be totally cowed to the point where he recommends firing the Special Counsel, so Trump can blame it on him. Sad.
Advice to Sessions…
You should be able to leave the job with your personal effects in a shoe box. Any more and you made the mistake of nesting.
I think that replacing Sessions will not be easy. The new guy will know that his job will be to (1) fire Mueller in obstruction of justice; (2) protect Trump at his own expense when the blowback comes; (3) dodge various prosecutorial/congressional bullets; (4) bet the house on the non-appointment of an independent counsel and a defeat for Dems in 2018. Not very appetizing, particularly as it’s totally clear that Trump will throw anyone under the bus to save his own skin. Giuliani is already under FBI scrutiny and may not relish fucking over any more G-men. I think the dark horse here is Kobach.
I read somewhere today that Dolt 45 won’t fire Sessions because no one else wants it.
Kobach would be a nightmare, assuming he is even qualified for the job.
If I could, I’d like to deliver a message from Saneworld, because folks there have a question.
How is this not a gigantic scandal that is rocking Washington to it’s foundations? How is the president of the United States publicly attacking and attempting to humiliate his own attorney general for declining to help him obstruct justice not a thing that anyone perceives as a grounds for impeachment?
Yeah, I realize picking between Trump and Sessions is, to use a phrase I am stealing from a Disqus commenter’s husband, like trying to pick a favorite Mendendez brother. But the president of the United States is putting enormous pressure on his attorney general to resign because he doesn’t feel like the Attorney General “has his back” to use his new underboss’s phrase, because his AG isn’t working to protect him from active criminal investigations by a special prosecutor looking into things that pretty much every other nation calls “treason.”
And I just don’t see how we have so quickly become used to the idea that the President of the United States is a borderline deranged manbaby that that isn’t, in itself, grounds for impeachment.
Imagine if Clinton had done this to Janet Reno for adding the Most Reprehensible Illicit Blowie in the History of the World to Ken Starr’s brief. Imagine if Obama had berated Eric Holder this way for failing to tow the line (as he sometimes did not, as you might recall). How is this a thing that we are pointing and laughing at rather than demanding impeachment?
Old enough to remember that all of the ethical restrictions between WH and DOJ entanglement trace back to John Mitchell, who was Nixon’s campaign director (both times) and AG in between. He was convicted of multiple Watergate felonies for pursuing Nixon’s cover-up agenda (including taking Nixon’s suggestions for appropriate targets of investigations) and spent a year and a half in jail. Are you stupid or did you just sleep through the 70’s, Trump?
This creep is really good at the buddy buddy thing when it suits his use.
But he will throw you off a cliff in a heartbeat if it suits him better.
I wonder if Melania keeps a suitcase packed for just this kind of occasion.
Maybe 2, 1 for clothes, the other for gold. lol
AG Sessions has a hard-on for mass incarceration and compromising marijuana legislation reform. IMO, now is the time for the Democrats to unite in efforts to legalize federally. It will force ‘President Frank Drebin’ to either back AG ‘No Smoking’ Sessions and keep him close (yay RU investigation) or the dominoes will fall and he fires an ally in the so called Drug ‘War’ (further compromised presidency). Perhaps this is now a wedge issue that will ‘wedge’ a compromised administration. Just my 3 cents from my political strategy fund on the verge of delinquency.
Dislike.
