Discussion: Trump On Wacky Debt Idea: I Never Said What NYT Reported I Said!

I myself am a frequent user of “whacky” and its derivatives, but this is just so grave the word does not seem to fit. This utterly incompetent, ignorant, dangerously egomaniac man has no damn clue about how government and finance work and blithely talks about inflicting his fifth bankruptcy on the country (and thereby, of course, sending the entirely global economy in turmoil… but he just has no fuckin idea about what he is talking about so such consequences are not in his mind).

And when the world economy collapses, we know what the guy would say: “I never did that!”

Not really just “whacky,” it’s beyond dangerous.

Remember this quote folks:

‘I love the poorly educated’

Clearly there is a reason why!

Ah Mr. Orwell how are you today? Doublespeak? Doublethink? In this case I do believe your prescience was accurate but just off by a few years. However if you had written such a person as Mr. Trump I believe you would have been chastised for developing such an unbelievable frivolous character.

I said it last week… Trump is going to have a hard time now that he’s not one of the many contenders for the Presidency, but an actual nominee. The press is transitioning from just reporting what he says to actually exploring the idea of the person saying that stuff in the White House. As a candidate, they were more than helpful in your quest to just get your message out. As the nominee, it’s all about analyzing and dissecting that message.

He’s about to get a rude awakening in the world of press vetting. Senators with 30 years in office will run for the Presidency and get absolutely WRECKED by the sudden increased scrutiny. I see 6 months of Trump-skeletons-in-the-closet stories, bracketed by panels of experts breaking down every stupid thing he says, ad nauseum.

Trump may have misspoke the TRUTH for once.

It is not inconceivable, that if the Fed finally raises rates so common Americans finally get a return on their savings, the Federal Gov’t will have a more difficult time rolling over their debt. It could result in the big lenders to the Government (Basically China, England, Goldman Sachs and the greedy bastard banksters) to take a hair cut INSTEAD of the working class paying higher taxes (the rich will never pay their fair share while our government is ruled by the donor class).

It would actually be a great idea if the Fed and our Government forced creditors to take a major hair cut as they try to resolve Puerto Rico’s default situation. The greedy bastard bankers created this mess…and it’s time they feel the pain so they will think twice before doing it again.

You know, I wonder if his family is worried about him? He really seems to be losing it. I can see him imploding in a month or two.

It hasn’t been a very good start to the week for Mein Trumpf.

Then apropos of nothing in particular we have this

“I think Donald Trump would be best for the job,” Billy Snuffer, the Imperial
Wizard of the Rebel Brigade Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in central
Virginia, told Richmond’s NBC12. “The reason a lot of Klan members like
Donald Trump is because a lot of what he believes in, we believe in. We
want our country to be safe.”

Donald is trying to pull a “Newt”.

“This is the United States government. First of all, you never have to default because you print the money.”

More evidence of the already obvious – He doesn’t understand the basic mechanisms.

The treasury (part of the executive branch) raises money by selling bonds but prints currency to reflect the money supply – which they do not control. A dollar printed, if it does not reflect a dollar in the money supply, makes all currency in circulation worth proportionately less.

He also doesn’t seem to realize that there is a statutory limit of $300 million on the amount of US currency (not coins) in circulation.

Wharton profs current and past must stare blankly in the mirror wondering how they let this guy graduate and if they can take back the diploma.

Exactly. He can obviously fool some of the people all of the time.

“People said I want to go and buy debt and default on debt, these people
are crazy,” Trump said. “This is the United States government. First of
all, you never have to default because you print the money.”

I wonder if it hurts in any physical way to be that unaware.

Trump does it again. Do we really need a president who so blatantly lies to us like Trump? It’s weird that much of the media ignores that Trump is an aggressive liar and aggressively tears into any number of groups.

The main media needs to do a better job of shoving the facts into his face. I hope the TV media will show the tape of what Trump was saying.

The risk this fall is that we’ll end up with an electorate that isn’t informed and a president who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

It’s obvious to us, but his fans hear his golden words and swallow every syllable. He’s been getting away with it for decades, and the media refuses to call him on it.

Whether or not his particular form of mental illness is debilitating remains to be seen. So far, it’s got him one step away from the most powerful office in the world. We wouldn’t be the first country to appoint a madman as king.

I never said what I said on national TV.

May be he is following the management guru’s advice that being unpredictable and sounding unhinged at times,so that no one can guess what you are going to do next, leads to great success in managing people and enterprises.

Except that we know what is going to do for the next 7 months. Say anything that he decides to be a votegetter.

Why am I seeing President Trump sitting on the burnt remains of planet Earth and crying about being misquoted?

What a remarkably idiotic comment.

The majority of US debt is held by Americans----banks, investors, the Fed, pension plans, and others who would be destroyed by such irresponsible actions.

“The greedy bastard bankers” did not create this mess—because it’s not a mess.
But what passes for your thinking sure is.

Why do you think the media will suddenly get a conscience and begin to do their jobs? Not when ratings are at stake! Trump has been steamrollering all over them and even FOX is kowtowing, after he grossly insulted the network and its pretty newsreaders.

My prediction is that the media will continue to pretend he is a viable candidate for president and thrill to his every tweet, the more sensational the better. Almost no one will challenge him, afraid of Trump’s withering insult machine. It will be a sickening display of cowardice, as the media company owners ratchet up the advertising rates.

I cling to the belief that most voters will see through him, despite the abysmally poor reporting, and that he will never take office.
