I read toward the end of the Nixon administration they had a gallows-humor thing when a meeting ended in which the last person out would loudly say “But it would be wrong!” into the darkened room as they closed the door.

If I remember the semesters of Russian language that I had, oh, many moons ago, it’s which syllable you accent (1st or 2nd) that determines whether you mean headscarf or granny.
Kind of like “invalid” — accent the first syllable and you have a noun meaning an unwell person, accent the second, you have adjective describing something not valid…
