ETA: McGahn was interviewed all day on Thursday and will go back for more.

Yep, seen it and the remake. The candidate was ā€œbrainwashedā€ to respond to a future signal and call to action. Trump has been blackmailed with carrot and stick. Heā€™s a willing agent.

I grew up in a neighborhood with a blend of Polish, Italian, and Irish immigrants and first and second generation Americans. ā€œBushaā€ (short for babushka) was the name my friends called their grandmother. Headscarves (back in the late '50s) were called babushkas. Old ladies wore them. I think itā€™s one of those all of the above words.

Where are the Senate approved (and signed by Trump) new sanctions on Russia? Why does Trump remain so hostile to the EU and to NATO? I think there are some quiet quid pro quos that are lying in plain view. However, I am also leaning towards most of it revolves around keeping the money laundering spigots running.

If you put it that way, Trumpp would gain support among GOP voters.

Credit where credit is due and that is to @thunderclapnewman

@ottnott From the remarks I accidentally read at FB by PP supporters, they seem to think thereā€™s nothing wrong with communicating with another country and do not understand for a moment from what I read that Russia has been this countryā€™s enemy since the end of WWII because Stalin and Eastern Europe and so much old boring world history that Fox has never covered.

Iā€™m sure that the question of implementing addā€™l Russian sanctions came up in one or more of the ā€œbut there were no witnesses, at least from the American sideā€ meetings/phone calls and Vlad reminded PeePee that he had a few things up his sleeve that the pig-eyed sack of shit might not want the American people to know aboutā€¦

well, Iā€™m talking mainly about tv news - and letā€™s not forget that the LA times was just bought out by the right wing dark money bros.
sheesh, you and Mattinpa so touchy re: the media - I always write ā€œthe media outlet of your choiceā€ so people can get on the case of who ever theyā€™ve read or seen that gives the false equivalency narrative. Can the 4th estate save this country? well, no, but decades of catering to repub talking points got us into this mess
alls iā€™m sayin is - at this time of the year, when peace and joy are overflowing in the hearts of senators because of the pass-through tax reduction, must we, here on this site get angry with each other? no no, I raise a cup of organic fair trade tea to you both

Me, too. All the women including my late wife, wore babushkas. Russians get a chuckle out of our use of the word for head scarves. Coming, as I have and my late wife did, from such a neighborhood, my grand kids are ethnic salads.

We watch too much TV for our own good. Itā€™s about 44 minutes of reporting in an hour, often involves heads talking over each other, and print/digital takes hours and sometimes days in some cases to put together a comprehensive story. Thatā€™s why they win Pulitzers and nobody on TV has. If we, @mattinpa and I seem touchy, and I canā€™t speak for him, we might have a respect for the power of the printed word and its delivery to those who want to know more. But I salute you in return though itā€™s only Twiningā€™s English Breakfast.

Mutts are us pretty much describes my generationā€™s offspring and theirs.

I donā€™t actually think heā€™s happy at all, thatā€™s just his MO.

The way it works for wingnuts is kinda-of-like an out of body experience. They donā€™t pay attention to their inner-selves, thereā€™s no capacity for introspection. All of their energy is focused on, and with Trump especially, ā€œwhat can I do to counter any gains my enemy may have just made?ā€, ā€œhow can I make them feel inadequate?ā€ Not ever realizing that it is their inadequacy that is the issue.

Trump is inadequate at most of the things people in a civil society value. Heā€™s just been wealthy and craven enough his whole life to have brought this despicable persona to the world stage. He knows that weā€™re all reveling in his well-deserved misfortune and even experiencing shadengasms this very next day. He is not happy, but claiming to be so ā€œsure shows those liberals theyā€™re wrongā€.

Thanks for the link and I love how the article wraps up:

People familiar with the Mueller team said they convey a sense of calm that is unsettling.

ā€œThese guys are confident, impressive, pretty friendly ā€” joking a little, even,ā€ one lawyer said. When prosecutors strike that kind of tone, he said, defense lawyers tend to think: ā€œUh oh, my guy is in a heap of trouble.ā€

I do believe the defense lawyers are correct.

Weā€™re on the same side and of course I appreciate that. I just think itā€™s inaccurate and unhelpful to say the monolithic media always do such and never do so. And you canā€™t say ā€œmainstream mediaā€ and then define it in some quirky personal way. Mainstream media is all the traditional familiar ones, including legacy print publications. But no matter how thin you slice it, thereā€™s still tremendous variation in each subset. Iā€™m willing to strain friendships, and have, because Iā€™m asking people to see more nuance and not just rail away categorically. This is a complex situation weā€™re living through and simplistic views of it are a big part of the problem. Iā€™m urging people to value whatā€™s worth valuing. If thatā€™s touchy then color me touchy.

I think I may love that even more.

Itā€™s completely true .

A new WAPO piece indicates that on Thursday, Muellerā€™s team questioned Donald McGahn, the WH counsel for several hours. The next day, Mueller announced the guilty plea of Flynn. I donā€™t think that timing was a coincidence. I think a lot of WH witnesses have given incomplete or untruthful answers and Mueller revealed his guilty plea to send a message to the WH underlings: come in here and tell the truth or youā€™re all going to jail.

Iā€™m pretty certain Mueller caught Kushner in a perjury trap. McGahn may have also fallen into one.
