I’m very pessimistic on top of being cynical about another woman being on the top of the ticket and winning. What the mob did to Hillary was like a dress rehearsal, they’ll review what more they could have done to trash her candidacy and bring it to sheer perfection with a possible future woman candidate. Moreover all this talk about Senator Harris being put in that position alarms me. She’s my senator, she’s good for CA, and the prospect of her being trashed because of gender and ethnicity disturbs me.
Anybody who runs is going to be trashed on every possible basis. That’s just how it’s going to be.
They just have to be armed with the truth and sharpen their battle axes.
Yeah; and if anyone can do that it’s Harris.
On the upside, they had a decade of practice trashing Hillary with an eye on any eventual run she was going to make, folks like Kamala Harris just haven’t been on the Nutjob Radar long enough for them to have crafted a narrative (focusing their ammo on Feinstein and Pelosi).
The good news is that eventually repetition leads to numbing and you have to up the energy to get the same effect and the Republicans have driven the needle completely off the scale. We can all counter with “Why won’t Donnie pay Liz the $1M dollars he promised?” and “His crowds aren’t the only thing that are smaller than he claims” (sadly, that second one really does work with his base).
So, I’m still trepeditious (yeah, that’s a new word) but hopeful that they finally jumped the shark and it’s enough to just keep laughing at them until Nov. 6. We’ll see…
I’m glad there are more optimistic folks here than I, but I contend the RWNs will have slightly more ammo with Harris because of her mixed race background. It could be that she’ll overcome the expected trashing simply because it’ll be expected, but I remain cynical and skeptical that people with the exception of progressives want to elect a woman as president. They’re not used to being subordinate to a woman in their personal lives or in corporate life, and to have say Madame President and show respect after years of disrespecting women as a matter of course? We’ll see.
@tena @c_stedman Thanks for the hopeful POV
You’d think the guy who promised a million bucks for a DNA test would, but everyone knows that Trump lied about that just like he lies about everything. So the only people who care are those who care about truth as a concept, which does not include anyone associated with Trump.
Listen we cannot run scared of what they are going to say. She’s not afraid. She’s ready.
The bridge too far would be Harris and Booker. I would love to see that but you know that could never happen at this point in America. Two of the smartest people in America, one who runs in to a burning building to save a woman. What chance would they have today?
I think anything can happen since anything basically already has. And if we are running candidates based on what we’re worried they will say or do we are being fools. For one thing our voter base is black voters - they turn out and we win.
You know I’ve always been a proponent of not listening to the rabble’s negativity and hatred because it’s what they do, no matter the issue, and it’s clear she’s not afraid and I’d support her. Ultimately, I want to be wrong about this. How about good news now?
I have to turn this into a mantra.
We do because it’s true. We watched it happen in Alabama in the special election. I watched it happen in Dallas when Obama ran - the voter turnout was incredible. I am looking for incentives for our voters to show up. i don’t think there are many old white guys who are going to inspire that kind of turnout.
I’m looking back at the racism that was fostered against Obama and was used by Trump to win the Presidency. I can imagine the reaction to two black candidates for President and Vice President. Like I said, I’d love to see those two win but I think there is way too much racism in America for that to be successful. It was just a fantasy of mine. I would definitely be all in if they ran together.
Those are not our voters - so who the fuck cares? Honestly. I know Kamala is running but it’s way too soon to wonder who her VP pick might be,
You have more faith in the American public than I do.
We can also be thankful that moron covers up his big ass with long jackets at all times and TPM did not repeat his bullshit about “maybe they were rogue killers, but who knows.”
I do because they have shown me reason to. Hillary won by 3 million votes so the majority was not misogynistic. The damn election was stolen just like the 2000 was.
Who cares? You do.You owe Warren, or more properly her favorite charity/cause, $1,000,000.00.
