Until the last two days, nothing Trump has done surprised me.
Today, I feel like Alice.
Who knows what is coming next.
I’m willing to put money down on Trump Tower Pyongyang now. Anybody game?
Just for fun… see how the wingnuts are feeling…
I believe this could actually hurt Trump. His core voters won’t like this at all.
Bannon said that DACA recipients should “self-deport” when their work permits run out.
“There’s no path to citizenship, no path to a green card, and no amnesty. Amnesty is non-negotiable,” he said on CBS.
Bannon: Trump’s DACA Decision Could Cost Republicans The House - TPM – Talking Points Memo
trump says " we’ll see what happens " … wow he’s the freaking president on bended knees sending a clear signal that he controls nada … bitch slapped by Nancy … you go girl … this guy is clearly out of his league.
I think Trump can live with the feeling his “in charge” status is a bit diminished if the trade-off is staying on page 1 in the press, gawked about on the nightly news, and getting plaudits for, well, almost anything. Narcissists need attention and affirmation, more so than being labeled “Mr. Big”.
Many Republicans were furious with President Donald Trump's budget deal Wednesday, stunned that the president quickly gave in to Democratic demands to pair hurricane relief with a three-month debt limit hike — though getting nothing in return.
But in calls with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Thursday morning, ***Trump raved about the positive news coverage it had received, according to people familiar with the calls, and he seemed very pleased with his decision.***
***Trump specifically mentioned TV segments praising the deal and indicated he'd been watching in a call with Schumer,*** two people said.

Bottom line, satisfy Trump's attention whore needs and you've won more than half the battle.
It was. They most likely walked away with everything they’ve wanted since Obama first signed the Executive Order on DACA.
But I was thinking about why he so obviously likes them and is so agreeable to their demands. First, it’s partly because he has no ideology. He literally doesn’t care about policy or even the politics. These things are completely irrelevant to him. The only thing that matters is the appearance of winning.
Secondly, PP is from NYC. Pelosi grew up in Baltimore in a powerful political family in which her father was mayor. Paul Ryan is from Janesville, WI. McConnell grew up in rural Alabama before moving to KY as a teen. Pence grew up in rural Indiana. Most of the rest of GOP leadership is from small, rural Southern towns.
PP doesn’t have anything in common with his fellow Republicans. He can’t really relate to these people. He has spent the better part of the last half century surrounded by Democrats and his entire life surrounded by big city folk. He’s the type of guy who probably makes fun of people with Southern and Midwestern accents.
With Nancy and Chuck, PP probably sees two people who are at least relatable, people with shared experiences. Chuck grew up in the same city and she grew up in powerful family in another big, East Coast city. They’re not foreign to him nor are they beholden to him, which makes it easier to see them as business partners, as equals, in a way that he doesn’t view Republicans.
Because Chuck and Nancy have spent their lives in big cities surrounded by all sorts of Donald Trumps, they know how to play him. They know what buttons to push to get the desired response. They’ve had to work with many Trumps in their careers, and they know how to work him over.
Ryan and McConnell haven’t a clue.
Maybe my Dad was right all along, at the rate he is going Trump will enact universal single-payer medical care .
There were some recent surveys done-wish I could remember where I saw them to cite-which point out that Trump voters care most about shifting the composition of the SCOTUS. It’s their biggest priority. They really don’t give Trump’s dealings with Congress much of a thought.
If only Trump’s base had some kind of warning that all he cares about is himself and will turn on anyone and everyone if something sufficiently strokes his ego.
“I voted for a con artist and all I got was nothing”
Agree. I think Pelosi and Schumer are better at reading how to manipulate the big baby in the White House. Nancy and Chuck caught the fly using honey, flattered and cajoled and sweet talked Donnie, told him how big and strong he’ll be if he saves DACA.
For all those who thought Pelosi was too old and demented to stay in Congress … pppppppththththth!!!
The way Pelosi and Schumer are manipulating trump is priceless. It’s exactly the way you handle a two-year old who’s throwing a tantrum. OK now, see this shiny DACA replacement? Oooooh pretty, you like this, don’t you? Just think how beloved you will be if you make this happen! Here’s some border security for your other pudgy little hand. Good boy. Now let’s move this nasty wall over here, maybe put it away in the toy box. There we go. Here’s a juice for you!
Next day trump: I still have a wall. It’s in the toy box. I can get it anytime I want.
She looks more like Ginger to me.
Hey, show the man some respect.
He’s forgotten more about MAGA than you or I will ever know!
"While one who sings with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
Bent out of shape from society’s pliers
Cares not to come up any higher
But rather get you down in the hole that he’s in
But I mean no harm nor put fault
On anyone that lives in a vault
But it’s alright, Ma, if I can’t please him"
–Dylan
And they scoff at his deal-making ability!
The most recent article I could find on the subject was here
I also found a pre-election Gallup survey that listed Immigration and Dealing with the flow of illegal immigrants coming into the U.S. from Mexico as numbers two and three for importance to Trump voters.
I’m certain there’s truth to your statement among republicans, but to the Trump base, I’m not so sure.
But how about the Mexicans? Weren’t they going to pay for the wall? They aren’t even mentioned anymore. If they are so disengaged, why don’t we build the wall with Argentina or Sweden or someone who might actually appreciate a nice wall.
Cosigned 1000% with all of this, with the additional explicit comment:
Donald Trump is familiar with the idea that not everybody works for him. He doesn’t think he’s king of the world. He thinks he’s king of his company. Trump knows that Schumer and Pelosi are not his subordinates, and he has to work with them to an extent rather than ordering them around. Trump thinks that Yertle and Ryan work for him and are literally his subordinates, and he treats them with all the lack of respect and deference that implies. He “makes deals” with his opponents. He does not “make deals” with people who work for him.
‘The Wall Will Come Later’
…he can build it with the debris from all his great hurricanes.
I suspect you have just hit the nail on the head. Donnie reacts to people and situations based upon gut feelings rather than logic, and he keeps people around him (like Flynn or that ghastly Omarosa – or even Jarvanka) who he likes even though they are poison for him on a variety of levels, just because he feels “comfortable” with them. So your hypothesis is certain a valid one. And let’s hope that Chuck and Nancy can keep up the schmoozing.
