Discussion: Trump Offers Up Bizarre Comparison Between Manafort And Al Capone

How exciting! Only day 2 of the Manafort trial and the self implicating Dotard’s guilt ridden tweet rage frequency continues upward.

Yes, I’m sure Paulie is thrilled with the quality, quantity and content of Trump’s support. If Trump keeps it up, Paulie may be sentenced to 500 years in jail rather than 300.

Barron probably prefers having lots of “me time” far away from his father.

Maybe tomorrow’s analogy will refer to Charlie Manson.

Considering the mob ties of Fred and Donnie the Capone comparison is very apt.

This is an effort to let Manafort know that big fat pardon awaits him if he keeps his mouth shut.

Close, but not quite “treated very unfairly”, which is the typical prelude to POUTUS’ pardons. I wonder if Manafort understands

…why? What good could possibly come of this? Is he honestly saying that Al Capone had things better than Manafort? That’s not even a logical comparison and isn’t remotely true.

I can only imagine that someone put on Untouchables while Trump was raging about news coverage of the trial and he couldn’t believe how nice this Capone guy has things. Or maybe Trump was just looking for pointers on what to do when the Feds nab your bookkeeper.

To the staffer who wrote this tweet–Capone’s first name is spelled A-L-P-H-O-N-S-E.

… - although convicted of nothing? Where is the Russian Collusion?

And if it’s collusion, he’s not guilty of a crime anyway, am I right?

If I remember correctly, Capone died of complications from STD infections after serving a stiff sentence in frikken ALCATRAZ!

My god… Trump is monumentally stupid!

Yeah, I just now checked most morning headlines and sounds like his otherwise empty skull is now full solely of this trial and himself.

I have to agree with Agolf on this one. Manafort should be released into the general population where he can enjoy the same privileges and protections as Joe Average inmate.

Am I the only one who detects a whiff of admiration in Trump’s description of Capone as “legendary”, “Public Enemy Number One” with scare quotes, etc?

He seems really concerned about the treatment of some guy who worked briefly for his campaign. What civic-mindedness. I’m sure he’s deeply opposed to the arbitrary detention of anyone at all.

Oh, wait.

I’m gonna guess that a), manafort’s solitary confinement isn’t in a tiny, windowless cell and b) he was was perfectly happy with being in solitary, especially given the perks he had. There’s no way he’d want to be in gen pop rubbing elbows with the rest of the inmates. Not when he’s used to high-society. High-society thugs, for sure, but still high society.

All Manafort has to do now is fire his other lawyers and hire Rudy and I bet we could double that sentence to 1000 years.

:joy:

Perhaps we should compare Trump to Caligula.

Well, Fonzie Capone never admitted to being a crook. He was, in his own words, just a “businessman”.

Just like Trump. A “businessman”.
