Discussion: Trump Now Says Abortion Laws Shouldn’t Be Changed

says someone who has obviously never listened to Sander’s position
“The decision about abortion is a decision for a woman and her doctor to make, not the government. I will not allow the right wing to deny women control over their own bodies by forcing clinics to close, extending waiting periods, or inventing other methods that create de facto abortion bans. Roe v. Wade is the law of the land and must remain so.”
“We are not returning to the days of back-room abortions, when countless women died or were maimed,” Sanders wrote in a 2012 article on the Huffington Post.
“I happen to believe that it is wrong for the government to be telling a woman what to do with her own body,” Sanders said.
“The current attempt to discredit Planned Parenthood is part of a long-term smear campaign by people who want to deny women in this country the right to control their own bodies,” said Sanders.
Yeah…just like Trump.

This might be a good time for Trump to be a little more spontaneous. After all, that’s what his people like.

Amirite?

He was for it before he was against it before he was for it before he was against it. Behold! The Master is working his craft.

Posit: He just doesn’t care. Evidence:

  1. Watch Sanders call Planned Parenthood part of the establishment.
Bernie Sanders says Planned Parenthood is “establishment.” Is it?

  2. After obligatory lip service (Trump’s remarks are “shameful”), hear Sanders immediately pivot to criticize Trump’s positions on wages, taxes, and climate change.

At this point I’d advise him to abandon human language entirely. Forget about ideas and positions, proposals, ugh, who can even figure any of that stupid stuff out? Just go up on stage and stride back and forth, growling and snarling like a werewolf. His gang would love it.

Trump thinks he is running for Bumbler-In-Chief. He makes President Obama look good even to many GOP haters.

With regard to #1, Sanders is responding to the fact that PP endorsed Hillary–he is not saying anything about abortion one way or the other. With regard to #2, he begins by saying “First of all to me a woman has the right to do what she wants with her own body and to make those personal decisions herself.” He then goes on to say that the suggestion that a woman should be punished for having an abortion is “beyond comprehension.”

And this is supposed to be a knock-down argument to show that he doesn’t care about abortion rights?? I would urge you to resist that urge to become a logician.

The problem arose because he then said that we should be talking about serious issues—with the clear implication that women’s reproductive health is not a serious issue in the campaign.

A very stupid comment—exceeded only by his “we’ll see” in the same interview when pressed on living up to his agreement to raise money for the DNC and down-ticket races.

“The laws are set.”

Yes Donnie, because “set” laws are a huge problem. You can never change them. That is why we just can’t get around those runaway slave laws and the Kansas-Nebraska Act. And Dred Scott? That SC decision is absolutely cast in stone.

Straight to the ad hominem, eh, BernieBro?

I’ve observed that Sanders often cites his opposition to a given policy as a substitute for bona fide achievement.

Being against something is cheap. It costs you nothing.

No snark to see here. This is a legitimate Trump tactic. Don’t think they will credit you for it though.

This Third Reich stuff keeps coming back to me. Drumpf’s idol looked at “laws” as letters on a piece of paper.

Subject to re-arrangement.
