From Eric Fanning to this…fellow. Sigh.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Rump and his maladministration want a war with Iran. Badly. Israel will push all their buttons and drag this country behind them into war. Of course, feral trumpers think that America is omnipotent and are itching for the chance to show them. Ironically, many servicepersonnel come from the rural areas and they’ll be the first ones to find out the hard way what reality is.
You’re absolutely right and there’s another myth at work here, the idea that governments are invariably inefficient and corrupt. My experience is mostly with local government but it’s extensive, over decades, and I’ve seen very few examples of corruption and very little inefficiency either. The budgets are publicly available and up for discussion, taxes debated, services defined. If you don’t fix the potholes or clear the snow away quickly enough you’ll hear about it, never mind water and sewer, and if people aren’t satisfied you’re gone. It’s hard to gerrymander a township that might be 10 or 12 square miles. Over a certain amount, you have to put certain types of expenses out for bid. And every municipality I’m aware of has a staff led by a manager who’s typically an ace at planning and detail and knows every aspect of the job backwards and forwards. I can’t speak to the state and federal level, where I’m sure inefficiencies increase with the complexity. But most businesses and nonprofits I’ve had experience with aren’t run nearly as effectively as the municipalities, again, in my experience. We’ve become contemptuous of expertise and we’re starting to pay for it. Look out below, that’s all I can say.
Right wing radio says this is just Trump hiring successful people, and what’s wrong with that?
Probably not. I’m not sure it’s survived his candidacy.
A war with Iran would be about the stupidest thing Trump could do and would make Bush’s phoney war invasion of Iraq pale in the consequences for everyone on the planet.
On the bright side, it might screw things up so much that they won’t be able to pursue their domestic agenda, and it will expose them for the utterly corrupt, incompetent, evil, and uncaring sachs this country has ever given power to.
Oh Yeah
I had heart surgery so now I’m qualified as a heart surgeon
Maybe he can buy the troops equipment they need.
Bake sales for armored vehicles–we were almost at that point for Iraq weren’t we?
A lot of ignorant Trump supporters are going to die over the next 4 years.
As well as a lot of brave volunteers who don’t and won’t deserve what Dumblefuck is going to do to them.
Trump knows him from some fundraising connection in Florida and remembers he went to West Point. This guy graduated in 1977 - I’m pretty sure graduates from West Point have to put in military duty - so what did he do? National Guard or service in Iraq? Why is his billionaire status more important than his military duty?
It’s OK, folks – while Dumblefuck is alienating the Army…and the NSA…and the CIA…and the FBI…and the DNI…he’s still had time to add the Secret Service to his List Of People He Thinks He’s Smarter Than:
If he survives 4 years, I will be completely and utterly shocked.
According to Wikipedia, here is his military experience.:
Viola was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1977. After graduating from the Infantry Officer Basic Course and Ranger School, he reported to duty with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell.[7] After leaving active duty, Viola remained in the U.S. Army Reserves, rising to the rank of major.
I think more important to Trump in terms of appointing him and knowing him is this tidbit from Wikipedia:
Viola and his wife Teresa have three adult sons, and live in New York City.[1][2] In 2013, their Upper East Side townhouse was listed for sale at $114 million, and Variety described it as “turgidly ornamented and giddily gaudy in its unrestrained grandiosity”.
So he has the same (lack of) taste and (lack of) aesthetics as Dumblefuck.
What does relating to the enlisted man have to do with running the Department of the Army? Like the current Sec of the Army relates to the enlisted man.
So what is your problem with the selection, that he is a white male or that he is successful?
My problem with the nomination? The guy has no hands-on experience at the Pentagon and probably knows as much as you do about running an organization of that size and complexity and sensitivity.
It sure ain’t a hockey team. Lives are at stake here. Yours included, one way or another.
And please: Turn down your aggression a notch. The grown-ups here are trying to talk
It’s almost as though Trump is aiming to demonstrate once and for all that you can’t run government like a business. Too bad idiots have to learn from experience rather than the power of reason…
