What’s up with all the trump news today
They started raising the possibility last night, actually. I believe it was Guiliani in the spin room floating the idea that this would be the only debate for Trump.
Which would be a disaster for him. Mr “Dominance/ Male Alpha” is going to walk away from the remaining debates because Hillary mopped the floor with him after just one?
Besides losing everybody on the fence about him, he would actually start to suffer significant loss to his base for such a move. And he would most definitely be pilloried on every station (probably including Fox) for being a coward.
Of all the unattractive features, of all the flashing red “DANGER! DANGER!” lights that his supporters ignore, the way they ignore the constant four year old whine of this 70 year old man who was born into vast wealth, whose mediocre business empire was financed, guaranteed, bailed out, and ultimately inherited, from his father, and who’s made a career out of fucking over people he did business with just because he didn’t think they could bear the litigation cost or the aggravation that people, and the world generally, aren’t faaaaaaaiiiiiirrrrr is the one that is the most amazing to me.
I see what you’re saying in regards to sane, rational people. Backing out would mean more humiliation - to us. But Rump’s base lives in Bizarro World where everything is opposite. To them, his bagging out of the remainder of the debates would be seen as rational since, after all, it’s totally rigged against him. Why should he even bother?
Don’t be surprised today when Drumpf says Lestor Holt was biased against him because he is AFFFFFRICAN murican
Strategy to win the next one is dicey for him. He has no substantive positions he can defend for more than a few sentences. And coming back with more Trumpitude next time won’t help him with the voters he needs. A pickle.
Last night…

Back to reality today! I spent a blissful four days at my friend’s cabin in the Catskills. No interwebs, no tv…just beer, food and nature. I came back yesterday and slept. Wake up this morning to find what seems to be good news from sane sources. Hillary seems to have handled business. one down, two to go. Back to work stinks, but you guys make it better. Enjoying the banter as always.
All kinds of indicators in society breathed a sigh of relief after Trump bombed. That’s how important it is for him to be defeated in November.
The GOP Base, the GOP itself, GOP-leaning Independents, addled-brained people who are drawn to the Train Wreck…there are millions upon millions of these people and they have to be outvoted. I look to the stragglers on our side to come aboard…and our people–from Mr. Obama and Hill down to the most obscure campaign worker–will have a long and hard 6 week pull.
Trump may be the most unqualified Presidential candidate in history. but there has never been one so determined to use any technique–fair or unfair–to prevail. For the first time, however, I think that more people have awakened than are still asleep.
He keeps collecting unscientific online polls favorable to him and declares victory in a desperate string of tweets.
Trump could say he was going to balance the budget by mining gold on Mars and more than a few people would shrug and say to themselves “Sounds like a plan. Good idea!!”
Why the hell he just doesn’t mouth any old policy during a debate, regardless whether it’s tethered to reality, is a puzzle. Americans do well if they’re following the plot to an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. Hell, he can get Ivy League economists to argue with a straight face his tax plans make sense. He should skip the insults and just mouth any old argle-bargle policy idiocies. Like voters are going to catch it? Hah!
Oh, the next one will be the worst for Trump. Because its a town hall. Trump doesn’t do well in that sort of setting, unless he is being fed softballs by a friendly audience. He won’t.
I personally think town halls are Hillary’s best forums, too. Because she can connect with each questioner and answer the question both to the nation and put it in a way that answers it individually. Trump of course has to make every question about him. That won’t play well in the least
Yeah, but he pulled that out of his ass about 10 minutes after the debate, well before even any online polls had been tabulated.
Well, David Frum oddly believed Trump won, but that was more his obnoxious partisanship and growing misogyny. But I agree with theory this was last debate, and it’s not like his team have better options. It’s not lack of preparation so much as his inability to prepare or retain anything. He’s bad and he can’t improve.
That’s just too kind.
2:1 he’ll sneak in some fatshaming remark about a questioner when he gets pissed.
I wonder if Melania got any sleep at all last night what with the tweeting and hysterics…
Trump gets a mid-twenties percent of the votes no matter what he or any other Republican does. Maybe thirty or so percent of the viewers decided he won the debate. Two thirds of the viewers say Clinton won the debate. Fence sitters saw no reason to support Trump. Some disgusted R voters decided to sit out the election.
On last night’s episode of “Who Wants To Be A President” Trump used his “Ask the audience” and “Call a friend” lifelines. Today he used the third and final “Eliminate a question” lifeline. Not to worry Donald, there are some really nice consolation prizes waiting for you.
EDIT: Tweety weighs in
Oh yes, the mike was bad. The moderator was an enemy. Other than that I did fine—except that I closed my eyes too much, I interrupted Hillary, and I admitted that while we have a huge national debt, I don’t pay any taxes because I’m smart. In fact, Donald, you’re as dumb as they come.
