Considering his administration established early on that his personal feed amounted to official White House statements, not sure how he can make this argument.
Sorry Donny, you can’t use your twitter feed to announce official policies, like you did with the transgender ban in the military, and then claim that it is for your private use.
I dread to think how much these asses are deleting and shredding and otherwise hiding to avoid the Presidential Records Act, which a few days ago they argued doesn’t apply to them. Yes, the Trumpsters say the Presidential Records Act doesn’t apply to the President and his White House staff.
I think I’m OD-ing on SMH-ing.
When you’re the President, the head of Government, and you block people from expressing themselves, are you not in violation of the 1st Amendment?
After all, Trump’s twitter account is not one of a private citizen with rights to block, but as a public person representing all of us.
If money is speech, certainly speech is speech. Should be an easy one for the Courts.
Yeah I think so. That was my first thought on this. I think it is a violation of the first amendment.
He is the goddam President 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, like it or not, therefore when he acts he acts as President whether he intends to or not - it matters not what his intention is. This is just a violation of the constitution in about 450 ways to Sunday!
And another thing. Why does he need to block critics at all? As President, he must get thousands of responses to every tweet. Only a fucking moron would read through each one and get their delicate fee-fees hurt. Doesn’t that cut into his Fox News time?
Just an extenuating of the deleterious idea that he only represents and works for some Americans.
(and to @tena) Yup, think so. And to extend that principle:
“Trump’s threats [to NBC and the NFL] amount to a First Amendment violation”
(CJR has had lots of terrific articles lately; highly recommend checking them out.)
Yep, that’s what the POTUS needs to spend his time doing, checking for trolls on his twitter feed. While not recognizing that the biggest troll on his twitter feed is him.
O yeah I agree and Sarah Huckleberry has stood up there and violated the first amendment repeatedly.
Yeah and I shot the sheriff.
but I didn’t shoot the deputy.
I would like to see some reporters challenge her on the oath she took as a federal employee

Fsck Mr. Trump. Fsck his lawyers. And Fsck the horse they rode into town on.
Only fawning news outlets are allowed. Only grovelling followers are allowed. FSCK no. No. No. NO.
I am starting to hate these fake tweets. Some of them seem authentic which means I have to check the twit’s tweets to see if they are real. I hate giving him hits!
There’s a really simple answer for this. Shut down his twitter account.
From Oct 10:
White House defends Trump tweets on North Korea
Sure sounds like official state action.
Not to mention that the Trumpists went out of their way to declare that his tweets are official presidential statements.
Talk about hoist by his own petard!
Your first sentence is fact-based and answers your second.
This is an especially odd argument because it’s indisputably wrong, as shown by many lines of evidence, but the broader case is probably right. Someone blocked is not actually prevented from seeing his tweets, all they have to do is log out from their account and view them in the browser. Which of course makes his blocking them all the more petty.
