Perhaps Putin will release the pee tape.

I’m sure we’ll all rest easier about our response to this latest afront to human decency when John Bolton joins the White House team tomorrow.

John Bolton Skewed Intelligence, Say People Who Worked With Him
Former colleagues say the next national security adviser — whose job is to marshal information and present it to the president fairly — resists input that doesn’t fit his biases and retaliates against people he disagrees with.

Or at least one, centrally located between the thumb and little finger. raised acutely away from the other four digits. Possibly seen in pairs, being being pumped up and down wildly, to add to the emotional vibrancy of the gesture.

I am not given to believe conspiracy theories. But I find this attack highly suspicious. Specially when Trump threw a fit during the week because he wants out of Syria right away. Why would Assad order an chemical attack on civilians at this moment? You don’t have to be too smart to understand that such attack will force the Americans stay longer, Assad is already winning he can wait to clear up those areas after the Americans are gone, or he could shell them with regular artillery with similar effect. and no blowback.

Many sides in the Syrian war: Who wants the US out? Assad, Russia, Turkey, Iran, ISIS, Hezbolah. Who wants the US to stay? The Non-ISIS rebels, the Kurds, Israel, the US Military. And before anyone yells at me how do you dare accuse the US military making things up: USS Maine, Gulf of Tonkin Incident, Mobile Chemwar labs.

which raises the question of how today’s GOP defines “lead.”

“Look over there, it’s Haley’s Comet!,” as in, leading us astray.

Especially if you are one who is fond of unprotected sex.

This is interesting and I don’t know what it means. Shot across the bow to Putin and Trump perhaps? Iran is asserting more influence? Assad thumbing his nose at the world.

“Any negotiations held now are with the Syrian State exclusively" not Russia

So, now the Assad regime is doing comedy?
I knew the leader was multi-talented, but this a little surprising.

The old end around Putin play. This thread sheds a bit of light and suggests that Putin did get shanked but in the process 1700 have died.

It’s not like Obama had the “broad and fully-resourced diplomatic strategy” that Menendez wants, and that was probably because Obama did not feel he had the heft to get the public to support it. I don’t hear Menendez or anyone else besides Lindsay Graham and when he is well, John McCain, talking about a coherent strategy. (You might not agree with it for any number of good reasons, but their idea of treating Syria and Iraq like we do post-war Korea and Western Europe is coherent and proven.) Given the poltroonery we get from Congress and the White House, throwing $100,000,000 worth of high explosive missiles at a Syrian airbase within seismic range of lots of Russians is not a bad second choice.

(The last president to have a coherent strategy for dealing with stuff like this was Clinton in the Balkans, and he had to be dragged into it kicking and screaming while dragging along a cowardly Republican Congress. We are still in the Balkans by the way, and no one is getting massacred.)

Rebels accepted Russia offer allowing them to stay but give up heavy weapons

With Putin, it’s hard to say what’s just the public face of private acquiescence to some ugliness. However, if Assad really defied the Russians on this matter, I expect that there’ll be long term consequences, so time will tell.

With Bolton on board count on this being used as a excuse to attack Iran.

When I was younger I would have growled that we should put a 500 pound bomb in Assad’'s window but we don’t have a plan or the will to clean up the resulting mess. OK folks tell us what we should do.

As the spouse has said, Trump will start a war to deflect and to boost his polls.
Guaranteed.
