Just the way Obit writers often pre-write articles, this article could have largely been written the day Kelly took the job.
Some White House officials believe Trump did find his footing during the response to Harvey, which they say has given him an opening to demonstrate presidential leadership. Trump has eagerly promoted the federal government’s response and recovery efforts, and on Saturday was making his second visit to the region in a week.
Ridiculous. In his typical buffoonish fashion, Trump tried to playact on Twitter the omniscient manager overseeing every part of a vast effort, when all he did was sit on his fat ass and watch TV. The hurricane had good buzz, in his worldview, so he glommed on to it. He went to Texas and pretended to look at maps. I don’t know to what extent the feds are involved in long-term recovery, but I’m pretty sure right now their main job is to write a check and for middle-level experts to provide assistance where they can. Long-term the Democrats won’t stand in the way of funding a recovery, not the way the GOP so shamelessly did with Sandy, so there’s no political skill to be demonstrated. The paragraph above is pure “balance” uncritically reported because that’s how AP rolls. Big surprise I’m sure. Phooey.
Always amusing to see how many ways they can find to pretend like he’s a normal person psychologically capable of doing normal things.
Trump has sought to quiet speculation in the media about an emerging rift.
“No rift! No rift! You’re the rift!”
“The bullet-riddled feet of the embattled President…”
Trump is channeling Benito Mussolini.
Trump’s doing some pretty heavy rifting himself…
Now Kelly can stew and think of ways to stick a shiv in Trump’s back, like every other Republican Trump has insulted and humiliated in seven months.
Dark forces are gathering. Excellent.

Under Kelly, Trump Continues To Act As He Has For Past 8 Months
I think most people believe that locals are doing the heavy lifting and the federal gov’t is just providing some backfill and the promise of money post-storm. I don’t think most people think Trump is particularly relevant to Harvey as of this moment.
Yes, Kelly’s days are clearly numbered.
We hear that former Chief-of-Staff Dick Cheney* is waiting in the wings, eager and willing to be de facto President again.

I wanna see dude snap.
Snap dude, snap.
Time to dust off that resume, Kelly.
The good news for Kelly is that Keith Schiller is leaving the WH, which means Donnie will need to find another thug to carry out his hits. We know he’s incapable of firing anybody himself.
In practical terms I wonder if any President is relevant in the first days. The one thing they evidently can do is provide the emotional support of showing up and demonstrating that the entire country cares, is concerned, wants to help. Trump could have gone to visit displaced people in Corpus Christi or wherever if he didn’t want to go to Houston right away. But he crowded them out of the picture as if they were nothing but a bunch of insignificant Balkan prime ministers. Typical fail on his part. Too lazy and self-aggrandizing even to pretend to care.
Maybe it made good TV and was exaggerated a bit for that reason but that whole Cajun Navy thing was cool, though. Certainly regular folks did a great deal to help each other. They usually do, but this was a bad one and they hung in there.
“He’s in a weak position,”said Christopher Ruddy, the CEO of Newsmax
NO KIDDING! and largely because he is a F’ing idiot with a passion for running his mouth but no interest in or ability to do any of the cerebral heavy lifting to grasp the subject matter & key issues.
That - plus he has super-glued his lips to the butt cheeks of assholes on the right like you.
Not likely. You don’t get to be in the position Kelly’s in by handling pressure badly nor by developing a reputation for backstabbing.
