“And some, I assume, are good people,” except they’re not too bright if they show up for an exam and didn’t study for it, those I call lazy S.O.B.s.
So is Leo Leonard scrapping the bottom of the Federalist Society’s barrel? He he resorting to fill out these 3 questions on a matchbook and I’ll get you nominated for a federal judgeship?
Matthew Petersen - on merit - should never have been put into this process - but for Trump it was a win-win … of course at the expense of Petersen
If Petersen slipped through - a win for Trump by getting another of his guys confirmed
but - if it breaks down like it did - it let a GOP Senator look like some careful defender of judicial quality - and provide an example where they did not side with the President - so Kennedy got to look like an independent thinker - simply because he would not rubber stamp a thoroughly unqualified nominee - all a bit contrived!
Tramp shouldn’t worry - he’s going to get plenty of time to rest very soon. His numbers are tanking, Mueller is either preparing to file indictments or already has and it would appear that the American public is finally waking up.
@jinnj - I think you’re ascribing too much thought on Tramp’s side. He doesn’t know who any of these people are, he’s just handed a sheet of names and picks the males. If he asks any questions at all, it’s probably based on “Is this guy white?”
He isn’t paying attention to anything but the cable shows these days…
Josh or somebody made just that point—Trump offshore picking judges to Heritage or whomever and now that well’s dry and they’re taking in rando carpetbaggers like this clown.
Yeah either that or it’s a contest =- draw this picture and you too can be a federal judge.
yeah, but if he had any sense of shame or self-respect he wouldn’t have been a Trump nominee, now would he he?
I was hoping that my acquaintances in the Trump Administration would be more important than my knowledge of legal stuff.
Yeah one good act of faith does not make one a saint, but one bad act of poor judgement makes you irredeemable for life. So we all need to look at the full history of positions and votes before declaring a person a saint or a deplorable.
True enough. He heard it was a lifetime appointment at a nice little salary and said what time should I be there?
Just because you passed prealgebra doesn’t mean you’re ready for calculus.
But there’s always a bright side, Matt…
You might even get into the management training program, if you get through the probationary employee period.
I’m seeing red, but it’s all good.
That’s just what I was thinking of. hahahahahahaha
We better watch out. Knowing Trump, this guy will be appointed the next acting Deputy Attorney General after Rosenstein gets canned for refusing to fire Mueller.
Such a loss. His complete lack of courtroom and judicial experience is robbing the nation of the chance to bring “fresh eyes” to the D.C. District Court.
Trump Judicial Nominee Withdraws After Vid Of Confirmation Hearing Went Viral
In case anyone missed that video, here it is:
I can’t help but reflect on how this kind of failure would be handled in a healthy organization:
“Mistakes happen; fine. But let’s dig in and understand what our criteria are for nominating federal judges. Are they clear? Did Petersen meet those criteria? If not, how did he make it through our selection process? Do we generally recommend preparation before a nomination interview? Should we in the future?” etc.
Further, an org motivated to be transparent to its stakeholders might even share the results of that kind of analysis after such a public failure, so make it clear what its standards and priorities are…
We’ll have that kind of government again someday, friends…
The desire to spend more time with spouse and family rears its ugly head again.
