Discussion: Trump Jr. Not Picked To Serve On Jury For Robbery Case

Was he the defendant?

Twelve Juniors and you’d have a jury of the defendant’s peers.

Will the defendant consider the full jury pool tainted or improved by its proximity to corruption?

He was probably dismissed when he failed to see robbery as a crime and not simply a business deal in the making.

Was it ordinary robbery or highway robbery? You could see why they wouldn’t want him on the jury in the latter.

I wonder if he whined about how he couldnt serve on the jury because he was so indispensable to his business that it would be a hardship. Probably one of the two parties (or both) used a peremptory challenge on him.

Why does this smell more like a PR stunt than a serious effort at public service on the part of Jr? I doubt he would have shown up if there was any real chance of being selected.

I see I’ve been beaten to it, a few times, but I’ll go with my snark anyway. Robbery, any tRump can evaluate with an expert’s eye.

“We have to ask these questions to determine if you can be objective. First: Do you have family members who are criminals?”

“Well, just my father. And my brother-in-law and my sister. And my brother. And-- well, maybe it would be better if we talked about the ones who AREN’t criminals.”

Was this article written for the TPM society page? It has a real airy, fairy feel. I loved the reference to Junior “looking preppy-casual in tan corduroy pants and a grey sweater.” His banter “with other prospective jurors” and “lunch at a neighborhood restaurant” were additional charming touches.

Junior needn’t sulk. Obama wasn’t selected to serve on a jury either. I’ll bet no one asked for junior’s autograph though.

They only accept laypeople on the jury. They don’t want experts. It could skew the results.

So very wouldn’t want him on the jury. Although if you were the defense it would be a perfect way to set up a mistrial.

They couldn’t fit him, his security detail, and the other 11 other jurors into the jury box.

And Jr. offering the defendant a job in the Organization didn’t sit well, either.

It does sound more like a press release from the Trump Crime Family than actual reporting. AP seems to do a lot of that.
