Discussion: Trump Insists That He Wanted To Show Business Losses, Calls It 'Sport'

Is this one of your “we can lose money on every sale as long as we make it up in volume” type of arguments? Its unclear how you can stay in business if you are losing over $100 million every year. Unless, of course, Trump was not completely truthful on his tax returns.

Everything Trump does is lower than every other thing he does.

Could it be a combo of tax evasion + money laundering + sleazy money shelters?

New York (CNN Business)
Lyft waged an expensive war against Uber that enabled the upstart to steal market share and rapidly grow revenue.

But Lyft is losing gobs of money – and it’s unlikely to turn a profit any time soon. The No. 2 US ridesharing service lost nearly $1 billion in 2018. Lyft has lost money each year since its founding in 2012.

Trump did not pay any federal taxes for at least 8 years in the 80’s and 90’s.

Now I get it! Taxes are something that only the little people pay.

Damn! I’m such a fool!

Ways and Means Committee is Chairman Richard E. Neal’s committee, not Cumming’s, unfortunately.

Rep. Elijah Cummings is awesome. Rep. Neal not so much.

Similar to the sport of owning a casino where you set the odds and you still lose?

Trump’s evil is evident. In addition, it is spectacular in the way it has a negative and corrupting effect on others.

This has psychological, micro-social and socio-structural dimensions.

It is my sincere hope that Mitch McConnell assumes a place in United States history on (or near) the level of infamy Trump will inhabit…

And Barr hovering around as well…

LIAR!!! The man is a nutjob and totally incompetent and unfit to hold office.
He is now and then fucking deplorable and so are all the assholes that support this LIAR-in-THIEF.

Now, back to my regularly scheduled life…

The reporter Lawrence interviewed on the story was careful in her phrasing and delivery, as well as tone. What SCREAMED from her narrative was this:

“Where the fuck does his money COME FROM???”

I’m not a CPA and I was just getting started in my business career in the late 80’s and the 90’s. Unfortunately, he’s probably right about the tax avoidance measures. I’m guessing it was perfectly legal within the tax code and he wasn’t the only one doing it.

Ah, good point. However, I’m skeptical 80’s/90’s-era Trump had an army of investors willing to lose enormous amounts of money to grab market share. My understanding is that real estate isn’t the type of business where you can see exponential levels of growth in a decade like you would for tech.
