More recently it is perhaps useful to look at how walls have been used - the Berlin Wall for example. It was a symbol of Communist control and the division of a people and a city. It had no good connotations. No walls like that ever do have any good connotations -they represent failure.

This is a vanity project and it would provide massive opportunities for graft for him and his cronies. To understand how it would go look at the (non)rebuilding of Puerto Rico.

You are exactly correct. Vanity project is exactly all that it is and we’re supposed to fork over our money for it. I don’t think so.

The joke of it all is, like the Chinese and Berlin Walls, this Wall, too shall pass someday. But not till long after the people fighting eminent domain have exhausted their savings fighting it and it has marred and in some cases destroyed the land and landscape.
Build a high speed rail corridor that by it’s very nature can’t be crossed on foot. At least it would be useful then.
Here’s an idea: everyone just start agreeing that the wall is already completed and is lovely and effective. That way we can all just move on.
