Discussion: Trump: I Think Dems 'Will Be Blamed' For My Decision To Sabotage O'Care

Oh lord.

If he is, he’s doing a bang-up job of hiding it.

Its a place to vent frustration for many of us. Sometimes you get on the bad side of someone and it really is a more reaction to many stressors, not simply your one comment. I have not followed your comments but I see now there must have been a accumulation of comments that have flagged you as a big critic of democrats. Is this correct? If so, I think there is always room for constructive criticism, but trashing them is not going to fly here. We are democrats here… The name calling and cursing is out of bounds from all parties. We all lose it sometimes, but I don’t see this exchange as helpful.

I just saw the one comment I responded to initially and was thinking similarly that democrats do need to find a way to respond immediately to trump’s lies – and not just on MSNBC and the like.

Being reactive, instead of being pro-active, is a loser’s game.

Dems should be taking the 24-hour news cycle away from Trump—and you can’t do that by reacting to his lies and stupidity.

I agree with this observation – trump is setting himself up as saving the poor from the greedy insurance companies who own the democrats. A complete inversion of reality – but that is the propaganda they will be fed. When they lose coverage, they will be told that the democrats sabotaged GOP efforts to give their healthcare to illegals and african americans and heaven’s forbid planned parenthood!

LAter—I’m off to an appointment with a client.

OK – I know are not going to solve the problems of the country on this thread! We are all upset.

No I am not a critic of the Dems, I have supported them from the 60s. I dont all ways agree with the methods or for all of its programs.

I think sometimes they can do better, or sometimes say nothing. I voice that opinion.

Ok then. Good. Some people here get really worried about a circular firing squad. We laugh about the GOP imploding, but after the 2016 primary, a similar risk to the democratic party is also perceived. The anger you see expressed here is that we will not pull together. And we absolutely must.

I’ve seen the test so I sincerely wish you all the luck in the world and hope you pass it and then go out and knock 'em dead.

Great! With such a warm invitation to deal, let’s lower the Medicare age to 60 next year. 55 in 2019 and 50 in 2020. Let’s also open up a public option to the Federal Employees’ Plan, at the same premiums and coinsurances, to every employee of every organization that offers health insurance. Let’s require such organizations to pay the employer’s portion of FEP to Medicare, for each eligible employee who chooses to enroll.

Trump: I Think Dems ā€˜Will Be Blamed’ For My Decision To Sabotage O’Care

If that happens, the Democrats will have no one to blame but themselves, because this one is easy to counter.

Just pull out a copy of Trump’s autographed Executive Order and ask who signed it.

Actually, there is a lot of disagreement on issues among the commenters here. Some enjoy the discussion, some just like to argue, and some seem open to others’ viewpoints.

But as far as ā€œwhat should the Democrats do about this,ā€ I really don’t know. Understandably, a lot of frustration comes out when discussing this particular topic, and for good reason.

We’ve seen Republicans commit political malfeasance for years – most flagrantly and outrageously upon the election of President Obama – - without paying any apparent political penalty; they now control the executive and legislative branches of the federal government, and a majority of state governments.

And after witnessing eight years of Republican obstruction, I understand why many would be impatient with calls for bi-partisanship. And with so much under attack by this administration, I can understand the impatience with incremental progress.

I think we need to do what we do best: build coalitions.

The direction and agenda of this administration and this Congress – to tear away at the social safety net, to focus on the desires of the donor class to the detriment of the needs of working and middle class , to reverse progress made on civil rights, criminal justice reform and protections for ethnic, racial and sexual minorities, and to undo regulations meant to protect the public against unfair business practices and environmental damage – will create natural allies for us.

If we can be inclusive and respectful of these various interests and communities we can build a strong and progressive coalition that represents the majority.

Where are all the interviews with the people who obtained lifesaving care because of the ACA and may now lose it? Reporters allow Rs to talk about ā€œall the people harmed by O careā€ without correcting them. Or, without pointing out that when Rs talk about ā€œObamacare implodingā€ they are referring to the Individual exchanges which is about 8% of the market. The way it’s discussed, there are probably people that think that 1/2 of counties in the US have one or no insurers. It’s really quite maddening.

For that matter, why don’t Democrats put together some of the many people who were helped–it would help remind voters that Democrats gave them the thing that Republicans are trying to take away. That would include the pre-existing conditions part, the essential benefits, the fact that most people get subsidies for those "skyrocketing premiums)
