Like all petulant middle school mean girls, Trump knows how to hold a grudge. He has demonstrated time and again that no slight is too small to ignore - no, he must attack any perceived insult and nothing is off limits or too over the top.
But he has a thin skin and long memory. At one time or another, he’s been treated “wrong” by all members of the press…in what amounts to his mind. It’s not an act. He really intends to make life miserable for all of them. Free pr or not. He owes nothing to anybody. Trump is your typical trust fund baby.
Your crystal ball reading is spot on! Throwing mud and shade worked in Phase One of this campaign. His opponents refused to roll in the mud with him for fear of looking like and smelling like a pig. Civility knocked them off the stage one by one.
The media told Trump’s rivals they could not beat him a verbal “street fight”. Trump believed ans still believes the hype. Apparently he does not know that Hillary Clinton is not a shrinking wallflower. She will not let Trump back her into a dark corner. Clinton will throw Trump’s dirt right back at him with a smile, never skipping a step in her stride. In Phase Two, Donald Trump will have to bring butt to get a piece of Clinton’s.
Wisdom dictates that we’ll see a Trump at the Convention who burns mended bridges and gets real tacky before the General to build a coalition. I think that is about as likely as a lion eating some sort of kinder, gentler vegan.
trump also implied that because he was so famous he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and wouldn’t lose any votes. As to spending money on a general election he doesn’t have it, won’t be able to raise it from the usual donors including the sugar daddies, and because he’s not as rich as he says he is,he doesn’t have it in back pocket. He will not get any support from the California state republican party because he’s toxic and the R registration in the state is at about 28%.
Fame does not pay the wages of the professional political types needed to organize and wrangle votes, state by state, and fight in the trenches for their candidate’s interests.
As Gail Collins famously remarked, Trump is nothing but a “financially embattled thousandaire”. His wealth is a fiction, just as are his policy plans if elected.
My opinion of the politcal hack-Trump-enabler Scarborough…
Suppose there was a movie in the year 2053 about a jerk in the MSM who played a pivotal role in placing a demonstrably dangerous, unbalanced man in the position of major party candidacy for President of the United States. And that movie had one of the more stupid-looking actors of that year as Scarborough.
I am quite sure that my grandkid would enjoy it.
But that is about the only way that the brain-dead viewing public will get any decent analysis or perspective of exactly the extent and scope of the damage Joe Scarborough’s show (and those of others like him) has done–and will do–to the United States of America.
Right now, however, these millions of viewers simply believe that Scarborough is a productive American citizen.
We should assume that Trump’s “won’t have to spend a lot of money” is just a continuation of his “nobody owns me” marketing message. There will be a lot of spending on behalf of the GOP nominee.
If the media reports that Clinton is whipping his butt in the fundraising area, Trump will paint it as a liability: “On day one I will be working to make America great again. She would be making phone calls to all these special interest donors to say ‘America isn’t important. Tell me what what special favors you want from the government.’”
