I was going to comment that Trump is a person who simply cannot admit a fault, ever. He sort of edges close to it…“could’ve used a better ground game”…but he can’t just leave it alone. Nope, he needs to contradict himself in the next sentence…“people told me [it] was fine…and I think by most standards it was.”
How about ‘pie-in-the-face’? Did you just learn what THAT means too?
Generally, a campaign spends the most on the states they have a good chance of winning in; but knowing one’s chances in each requires a competent ground game.
I have never run for political office but I read books, newspapers and watch news programs. Even as an ordinary citizen I know what a political ground is and what the organizers and campaign workers do. I thought “the Donald” knew all the “best people” and was supposed to be the smartest guy in the room. Apparently, he has no clue and at his age with his contacts, that level of novice ignorance is stunning. I think, as often with him, it is a case of his ego getting in the way of good judgement.
This is what Trump said when asked about the military.
And you know what? In that case, first day in office, or before then, right at the day after the election, I’ll know more about it than you will ever know. That I can tell you.I will when it’s appropriate. I will know more about it than you know, and believe me, it won’t take me long.
But right now, right now, I think it’s just something that, and you know what, if you ask these candidates, nobody’s going to be able to give you an answer. I mean, there may be one that studied it because they’re expecting a fresh question from you.
But believe me, it won’t matter. I will know far more than you know within 24 hours after I get the job.
This is what Trump said about the Iowa caucus.
I think we could’ve used a better ground game, a term I wasn’t even familiar with. You know, when you hear ‘ground game,’ you say, ‘What the hell is that?’ Now I’m familiar with it. I think in retrospect we should’ve had a better ground game, I would’ve funded a better ground game, but people told me my ground game was fine. And I think by most standards it was.
The caucus system is a complex system that I was never familiar with, I mean, I was never involved with the caucus system. Don’t forget, Joe, I’m doing this for the first time. I’m like a rookie. And I’m learning fast, and I do learn fast.
It’s been more than 24 hours. He doesn’t know more than me. My head isn’t spinning.
I think he vastly over-estimates just how smart he is and vastly under-estimates just how much he needs to learn.
Gee. What a great example of how you will be ready on day one.
The Dunning–Kruger effect personified and turned into celebrity.
“I think we could’ve used a better ground game, a term I wasn’t even
familiar with. You know, when you hear ‘ground game,’ you say, ‘What the
hell is that?’ Now I’m familiar with it,” Trump said on MSNBC’s
“Morning Joe” when asked if his campaign needed better organization to
win in Iowa.
…
Hahahahahahaaaaa(cough)…
Ground game (tee hee)
trump thinks politics needs no preparation. He follows that dictum when “prepping” for the debates. Np prep at all, just wing it. He thinks he doesn’t needs to pay his dues and can go straight to the head of the class and be POTUS. Maybe he learned something about Iowa but each state is unique and requires different “ground games”.
Then what comes after election? He hasn’t got the 1st clue how to govern. It isn’t cutting deals with China.
Is that our dear trump getting flavored?
I needed to see that!!! I had been hoping somebody (anybody) would smack that arrogance outta him. I guess he didn’t learn from just one session…
“The caucus system is a complex system that I was never familiar with,” the Republican presidential candidate continued.
Imagine this guy taking office the first day and dealing with health care, global warming, workers compensation, etc.
He doesn’t have the patience for this stuff and we 'll be far the worse off as a result.
Great. Now that he understands “ground game” he will finally open his war chest of dough and hire all the high school running backs in the state to run the streets of Manchester breaking down doors, kicking ass and taking names… until some wuss files a Federal Election Commission complaint or calls the police or something.
He is such a narcissist that he believed all he had to do was do rallies and talk alot of shit and that all the sheeple would just show up and vote without anyone to get them to the caucuses. Well as his admirers start dropping off and they will except the diehards of course, it will become apparent who and what he is.
It is amazing to me however, how he bamboozled the MSM. Twp days ago he was very possibly the nominee and how brilliant he was and now that he came in second, they are throwing him under the bus.
Another conservative proud in their lack of knowledge. Trump, and much of the GOP, plan for everything seems to be to just wing it and then wonder why they failed.
No kidding. An administration filled with nothing but guys named Curveball.
“Don’t forget, Joe, I’m doing this for the first time. I’m like a rookie. And I’m learning fast, and I do learn fast.”
Assuming Trump somehow did manage to get himself elected president, how long do you think it would be before we heard this excuse?
What could be better than that?
The problem with establishing a good ground game, was that no one would give it to him for free, he had to actually spend real money…which he plans to keep whatever is left after he drops out of the race. I mean people did give him the money.
Between Herman Cain, Carly Fiorina, and Donald Trump, have we entirely put to rest that CEOs are not all incredibly intelligent and talented folk?
Trump was always more of a sales guy than a business strategist. In other words he was decent at property development and terrible at property management. Such folk make terrible CEOs. George W Bush was a little like this: he thought he was a great judge of character and found himself manipulated by underlings who interspersed their presentations with phrases like “Game Changer!”.

Oo-oo - I bet it’s just like Nixon’s super-secret guaranteed-to-win plan for Vietnam, which he coyly kept secret until he was elected. And then there was no plan.
