Seriously speaking, some assumptions, especially those without basis, can turn out to not be true. In this case trump very likely knows nothing of the new mayor of London’s views about radical Islam. He’s just winging it again. Because nobody is gonna call him on it/

Well, like you say, nobody can win an argument with an unreasonable person if by winning you mean getting the unreasonable person to concede your point. But there’s nothing easier than getting Trump to demonstrate that he’s an ass. You just tell him he’s acted like an ass, and he will again act like an ass. You can do this as many times as you like. You should get other people to help if you’re running for President, to keep your own dignity mostly unruffled. But Hillary’s doing it to him as we speak.
I agree with that as a concept but I would bet about five thousand bucks there’s no record of Twain ever saying it. He’s one of the three or four worst victims of misattributed quotes. You know what Lincoln said about quotes on the Internet, I’m sure.
