ETA: And why does the older black gentleman have his hands out like he’s holding a picture, but there’s nothing in them? Did they give him the wrong one and then take the picture away? Did they not have one for him, but just wanted to have diversity on the stage? Is he waiting patiently for the autograph?

I do not disagree, but it is becoming a case of the masks are off. It looks like they are pushing their ideology with a fire hose at the moment. My suspicion is they know time is short, the mid-terms are coming and Mueller is lurking in the wings. Otherwise a lot of this would be more subtle and refined. The border issues have been mangled so badly they are unavoidable. The only other thought is they are distracting us from other issues that are happening, or maybe better said not happening. I am thinking about information security, infrastructure and anything Congress may try to sneak by in this snowstorm.

I have all of the empathy in the world for anyone who loses a loved one but according to the Libertarians at Cato the likelihood of being killed by an undocumented or refugee is roughly one in 3 billion. You might as well have a press conference for those killed by lightning strikes.

Trump don’t do subtle and refined. It’s a near certainty those jumbo photos were made by the WH and handed out to those parents. The exploitation of the dead here is Milleresque–I’m reminded of the that wastelands (or whatever it was) reference in the Inaugural Address; gratuitous denegration in order to make Trump look more heroic in comparison.

And every time the kids from School affected by gun violence get up in front of the media, they are speaking of the violence that exists between american on american crime. Every time black lives matter protest, or the families affected in different parts of of america, they are literally proving that this is just a PR stunt to force americans to be xenophobic. To live in fear of those from the south.

Actually I read last year, Josh has also alluded to this that some of the victims had their own issues that were peripheral to the incident such as drunk driving and gang activity.
