Actually, boiled down this is the Xian view of things, ever since the Puritans. It’s why Xian females (even baby girls!) are always at fault if raped, or if their hubbies “stray”, etc. The Xians aren’t even that subtle about it, and Trump just plops it right out there (and lives it too).

resurrecting a national embarrassment

IMO the only “national embarrassment” in this was and is the prurient obsession of Republicans with OPSL (Other people’s sex lives). If the national public had actually felt “embarrassed” do you really think Clinton’s favorability would have risen as it did afterward? This OPSL obsession has driven a huge amount of Rep political activity for many years; apparently, along with racism and Clinton-hate, it’s all they have left.

I voted for Bill Clinton twice but I came out of the whole thing very disappointed that he would put himself and the future of the Democratic party in such jeopardy by having a tawdry affair in the White House when he knew he was under extreme scrutiny for exactly this sort of thing. And, one could argue (as Trump is doing here in a cheezy but masterful way) that Hillary Clinton was unsympathetic to the women with whom Bill had affairs and that this was, on the one hand, transparently opportunistic and, on the other, hypocritical in terms of her support for women’s rights.

I was disappointed in Bill Clinton, too. But this business of HRC being a hypocrite because she hasn’t been “sympathetic” to the women who were openly pursuing affairs, one night stands, or whatever with her husband? Come on. Jeez.
